Hello there,
Tonight while on my PC using Facebook, I got an unexpected graphics card crash. My computer stopped and I had to turn it off via the shutdown button on the case. When I restarted my computer it was slow and a bit sluggish.

When I started it up I had a strange occurrence where my mouse and keyboard stopped working, the mouse has a blue light on the scroll button but I was unable to move the pointer. My keyboard was completely disconnected with no functionality at all. Even when I changed it to a different USB slot it was not working/ Again, I had to turn it off via the shutdown button.

I have a theory it might be the PSU because I read on another post that it was old and needed replacing but I am moving out soon and will be buying a new PC soon, however I need it to retrieve files for a project I need completed soon. I have a laptop and can do my work there. These other posts I saw where also out of date.

This is my first time posting on a forum for help and I'm sorry if I didn't write this topic correctly. If you need more information I will do my best.

Thank you,
Narjix

Welcome to Seven Forums Narjix. Can you confirm the USB ports work at all? Do you have a USB stick to insert, and see if it appears in Computer? Here is something to try which can work if it is not a hardware problem.

Unplug all the cables from the PC. Unplug the AC power cord. Hold the power switch down for 10 or 15 seconds. Leave the PC unplugged for 1/2 an hour. Plug it back in and power up. Plug in the cables one at a time, see if windows recognizes each item and the USB devices are working again. A Guy

First, thank you for the quick reply.

I can confirm that the USB ports in the computer work. After my mouse and keyboard stopped working, I left the computer for one night and it worked again, however after an hour and a bit the mouse and keyboard disconnected. I inserted a USB key into the ports and it worked, I copied a file and it opened on my laptop. The mouse when inserted into my laptop ports work.

I will try your method if the problem persists.
