Mouse Buttons Messed up Registering

Earlier today I switched my mouse to a Logitech MX700 and after the drivers installed I noticed that the mouse clicks were screwed up. To start off, my left mouse button does not register until after I release the button, instead of registering before, so now I can't highlight text or anything and my right mouse button, it registers two clicks now, instead of just one. Does anybody know what the problem could be? I've already tried reinstalling the drivers and updating them, but that didn't help.

Did you just plug it in didn't reboot and let Win7 install new drivers?
If you did that you just may have a bad mouse. I'd plug inth eold one and see how it responds.

If your corrective-measures are inadequate, then:
Uninstall the driver using WIN key | DEVMGMT.MSC | Enter and
the example shown in the attachment.

After uninstalling, shutdown your computer completely.

Reconnect the mouse.

PowerOn your computer.

Let Win7 find your mouse and let Win7 install its default driver for your mouse.

Now your mouse will function correctly.

Go to the Logitech site and see if there they have WIN 7 COMPATIBLE drivers and/or utilities. Personally, I always simply use the Microsoft drivers with the exception of with mouse pads where they provide features that MS does not provide. I also have rather "stock" computers.

@Iggy, my stock mouse works like normal.
@karlsnooks I did everything you said and none of them worked. I've used the Logitech mouse before and it worked fine.

All the settings will be there. Change the ones that apply. I think that you will find most uder the buttons tab. If you have problems, once inside the panel, I will try to help.

When you remove hardware you probably should uninstall it thru device manager, shut down and attach the new mouse restart and install the drivers - if there are still drivers for the old one just remove them in programs and features they wouldnt be associated with anything using this method.

Downloads -seems as though you dont need a driver if its the same for W7 as it is for vista

You could try installing the WXP DRIVERS in compatibility mode or thru device manager and locating the inf.file :

You cannot install a device driver by using its installation program in Windows Vista - works the same in W7

To install a driver OR program in compatibility mode - right click the setup.exe file - click properties - click compatibility - check run in compatibility with vista/xp etc - check run as administrator - leave the rest blank. Start setup.exe and install.

I have been having similary problems. I only installed Windows 7 yesterday. My mouse has been slow to react to button presses and since I'm a fast click (I'm a gamer), I have been having problems adjusting. Besides a delay in the click, it will occasionally double click, ignore click, auto click while my hand isn't on it (making it really fun to type this), and problems, errors, and delays while tracking. I have not before this or even now had problems with this mouse on any other computer/OS. I also use an XP laptop, previously had Vista then Xubuntu on this computer, a Mac laptop and all of those have never had and still don't have any problems with this mouse. It's a Logitech V220 Cordless Optical.

When I plugged in the mouse, it did not appear to install any drivers so I assume its using the Windows default, which is likely as it's on a 3 button mouse.

I have the same mouse MX-700. This is a six or seven-button mouse (not sure how they count them). My system installs the default mouse driver for standard two-button mouse.

I tried installing the latest version of mouseware for XP, using compatibility mode. DON'T DO THIS. It didn't change anything and I am now unable to uninstall it. I get a message "Windows cannot locate [alogitechfile].sys and so this software cannot be uninstallled ?!?!? - Ridiculous.

Yes, I tried changing the driver - navigating to the newly installed .inf file, but that did not work, the same Microsoft 2 button driver remined in place. My system says "this is the best driver for your mouse."

It looks like Microsoft is deliberately obsolescing what was fine hardware. I don't enjoy having to upgrade something I was perfectly happy using. I have installed other 32-bit programs with no problem, but drivers are apparently an exception.

If anyone can point me to a 64-bit version of Mouseware (Logitech) I would appreciate it. I don't know if this board notifies upon answers being posted, so please emal or PM me - THANK YOU.
