My issue is that my mouse is cutting out randomly at different times, it can occur alot and at other times not so much.

I know its not a problem with the actual mouse itself because whenever I test it on another PC or Laptop it works perfectly, i've also tried plugging it into different ports on the pc where the problem is happening but no luck. I'm using Windows 7 64 bit btw if that helps.

Know any possible fixes for this?

Hi Harry,

Dan's dad :)

There's maybe an issue with some of the USB drivers, follow these steps:
  1. Start :orb:
  2. Type: Device Manager
  3. Expand USB Controllers
  4. Uninstall driver (for every listed device) *DO NOT DELETE..ONLY UNINSTALL*
  5. Reboot
The drivers should now be automatically reconfigured by Windows upon reboot.

If you are using any USB devices, then remove these from the USB ports (leave keyboard and mouse), and then update all the devices with the latest drivers, including the mouse and keyboard if applicable.

Turn off USB Suspension:
Follow this guide if the above doesnt fix your issue:

Also try this update here if none of the above fix your issue:

Post back any progress.

cheers

Dave

Hi Harry,

1. Have you tried connecting a different mouse into the USB ports? Does that mouse work?
2. Does this issue happen just on Steam / games or randomly?

If you're experiencing random mouse lockups or failures, it could possibly be because your

computer is automatically turning off the power to a USB Root Hub:
  • Go to Control Panel > System > Hardware tab > and click on the "Device Manager" button.
  • In the Device Manager window, find the item/items labeled "Universal Serial Bus controllers."
  • Open it, and double-click the first item called "USB Root Hub."
  • In the USB Root Hub Properties dialog, click on the "Power Management" tab.
  • "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" is checked by default. Uncheck this box, and click "OK."
Failing that:

Maybe your Chipset USB drivers need updating from your manufacturer's website:
(Scroll down for Downloads and select O/S)

:ar: http://www.ecs.com.tw/ECSWebSite/Product/Product_Detail.aspx?DetailID=1228&MenuID=103&LanID=0

And/or use the Intel Utility see if that picks up Chipset drivers, not sure
if it will update the USB drivers for your Mobo tho:

Run SFC to check the integrity of all Windows 7 system files:
  • Click on Start > Type in search cmd
Right-click cmd after results are displayed and Run as Administrator
Type SFC /scannow at the prompt
(Note: There is a space between SFC and /scannow) :ar: SFC Tutorial
   Note
Select option two. If any problems are found, run the scan 3 times and immediately
reboot the computer after each scan.

Post back the results if any :)

Cheers

Dave
