I am running Windows 7, 64 bit.

This only happens when I am on Desk Top. When want to move something I have use the Shift Key and the right click on the thing I want to move to move a file or folder.\

How do fix this so that I can just use the left mouse to drag and drop?

When I use the left mouse button to try to move files or folders, it can vary what happens.

The worst thing is when it scrambles all the files on folders on desktop. Nothing happens that is any good.

What happens if you simply right click drag ?
It should produce a popup message to confirm which option you want to use,
Move to
Copy to
Create shortcut to
And my personal favorite Cancel

Is Auto arrange checked.

Right click on the Desktop then select View to see. If yes, uncheck it.

My whole thing was that I have never seen any Windows where the left click drag and drop did NOT always work.

Left click drag usually works fine but some times to Copies to and does not Move to like most people would hope,
And some time to does it in a location different than what a user would want
Right click shows the location you dropped in as well so until you select a operation to do that location clearly seen until you select the option to do,

Sounds like one of two things to me. Either your battery in your mouse is low or your mouse Driver may be corrupted. First try new batteries or recharged batteries. If that doesn't work then go to your Device Manager, click the plus sign next to your mouse and remove the driver with a right click. You'll need to restart the computer with the Windows Logo key and your arrow keys.

Once the computer reboots there will be a new driver loaded to operate your mouse.
