Mouse is double clicking with only a single click.

I just done the latest windows update today, it has been sittin there since last week but I havent turned off me PC since it downloaded.

Anyway, since I have done it the mouse is double clicking with only a single click. Also it hard to highlight text and stuff with it as it keep selecting and reselecting.

Anyone have this issue or know what can be done thanks!

Give this a try, it may be the solution.
control panel>mouse>double click speed. Try adjusting.
If that does not work, make a system restore, then go a week before the problem see how it works now.

Go to the Start Orb and type in Folder Options. You will find your single click option there.

yea its not the click options or the click speed.

Ill see if i can get another mouse to try it before I go as far as doin a restore

Tried d/ling the latest drivers from the manufacturer for it? Seems like M$ gave you new ones that don't work.

What mouse/keyboard are you using?

I keep my Windows Updates this way. It allows me to choose which updates to install.

Check for Updates but let me choose to download and install.

Then you can hide the updates you don't want.

yea i do me updates the same way, tbh tho i didnt check them i just installed them. never a problem really

im using an Acer mouse and Keybord that came with the PC, might try the drivers.

im tryin to do some work on Photoshop here and its a nightmare. Plus I dont know if it was me being stupid or it really did happen but i think keybord just done it too, A bit of tex i copiied and pasted in went in twice.

Ill try driver first, it will do no harm either way

I checked the windows updates and all that has been installed is stuff to do with windwos defender in the last few weeks. I got hold of another mouse and its not happening. so far anyway.

In the device manager the drivers for the mouse say its like 2006 or something, proper old. I tried to update with windows but ya know yerself what thats like. just said its up to to date but dont think it would know either way,

Acer website has no drivers for any mouse or keyboard.

So I think its just the mouse is buggered. Not happy with that, I like this mouse. lol

Goin to run malwarebytes anyway just to make sure.

I was tryin to avoid a system restore ill try it after malwarebytes

If you are getting Windows Updates for Windows Defender you do not have enough anti virus protection. Windows 7 Defender has been obsolete for years.

You don't list your anti virus in your specs.
I recommend installing and updating Microsoft Security Essentials.
Then do a complete scan.

is it wireless? may need new batteries if it is. i had this problem last year & again recently & new batteries fixed it.

i replaced a logotech mouse mtwo years ago after it started exhibiting the same problem, new batteries didn't fix it. the switches inside were worn. new mouse fixed it.

I have Eset Smart Security. Version 4 I think.

Windows defender is just there in background, thats just a fire wall is it not? I dont even think its running tbh.

oh and to the last lad that posted about maybe being a wireless mouse, This is a USB mouse. I grabbed another one that was lieing around and its not happening now. So maybe its just a hardware type thing, the mouse is plain broke. I may try open it an see if there is dirt or something clogging it. Its either that or the driver is some how screwed up :/

on that note, does anybody know a decent place to get a mouse? Im in Ireland, I was goin to go the place I bought the PC in few years ago or ebay but seen as we on subject. Komplett is the shop i use btw!
