I've struggled for 3 days now trying to find why I'm unable to use my mouse in Word and Outlook 2007.
I have a Thinkpad T500 which I recently formated (was Vista) and installed a fresh copy of of Windows 7 Ultimate and Enterprise Office 2007. The mouse/trackpad worked well for a week and then the mouse issue began.
I have installed all Windows 7 lenovo drivers as well as all Windows updates.
The mouse does work for the first line of text that you enter in Word or in a new email within Outlook, however as soon as you you press "Enter" the mouse is unusable. The mouse does work 100% properly for all other applications.
I've Googled this problem and it does seem as though there are others with the same problem. I've attempted to apply the fix's that were recommended which including removing or disabling add-ins, renaming or deleting the data key in the registry, but none of these have corrected the problem.
Any help would be definitley appreciated.

Seen this same problem before. That solution, surprisingly was touch pad too sensitive, adjust.

Hi Richard. Thanks for the quick reply. I changed the sensitivity of the Ultranav (Lenovo's name for touchpad) from 90% to 40% with no change in the problem with the mouse. I also tried dissabling the touchpad with no change. Any other ideas?

If you have word, I assume that you have Office. In any event, take the DVD and do a repair. That may work. If there is no repair feature (but there probably is) try to reinstall, over the original.

Done both. no change.
Funny thing, I originally performed an upgrade from Vista to Windows 7 and the mouse issue appeared shortly thereafter. After a couple frustrating days I decided to format and start from scratch. It seemed to work great and then the mouse issue appeared again. I tried doing a system restore thinking it was a micorsoft update, but this didn't work either.

Can you do a system image, from a time when things were working properly?

It's definitley not a mouse issue, I've tried others, this is definitley a software issue.
I can close word and restart it and the mouse will work until I press enter. I'm then stuck using the arrow, alt, shift keys to navigate around the text in the document. The mouse works on the toolbars however.

This was one of the solutions I've tried with no luck. I'll keep looking around at the templates to see if they're the culprit. Very frustrating.
Thanks Richard.

:D found the solution to my mouse problem. It turns out that it was Lenovo specific. Below is a link to the site that I found the fix.

Here's copy of the fix.

Thanks to Reyami for pointing to the Lenovo site.
The problem is caused by a bug in the Password Manager program that is included in the Lenovo Client Security Solution application (version 8.30.0031.00).
It did seem like a lot of people were mentioning Lenovo.

To summarize the acceptable workaround (IMO) to this issue so you don't have to look for it at Lenovo:

Click the Start Button
Type:
password vault
In the search box above the start button
Click "Password Vault" that shows up under Control Panel in the Start Menu
Click "Set Preferences" in the menu
Under the General tab, uncheck "Enable hot keys"
Click OK
Close Password Vault.
Log off (or reboot) and log back in.
The problem with the mouse in Word and Outlook with Word as the email editor should be resolved.
Look for an update to the Client Security Solution application from Lenovo in the future if you would like to use hot keys.

Thanks for your support Richard. You kept me looking.
