Hello. I'm unsure if I'm in the right section now,so feel free to move my thread.
My problem is the following:
I'm currently using Windows 7 Home Premium x64,4gb ddr3 and a 500gb seagate hdd with nvidia geforce 240gtm. My mouse is a Razer Deathadder 3500.
So I've played a couple 3D games today (Counter-Strike,Trackmania) and sometimes my mouse gets stuck when I try to movie it - like it turned itself off, even though it doesn't,since the lights on it are still enabled. I have no idea what to do,I've disabled the function of the computer to turn off USB-Connections to save power.Any idea? Thanks.

Why not test with a new mouse.
Go to device manager and look for any yellow warning markers by the mouse driver.

There are no errors, except some services I closed to get more performance. Nothing that harms my mouse function, though.

Same in clean boot mode. Nothing helped. What also is happening that sometimes, for just a short period it feels like my sensitivity gets boosted from about 3 to 12 for 0.x seconds.

fizikeL,

I was going to suggest unchecking the “Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power” option in device manager but I see you have already tried that. Another suggestion is to pickup a powered USB hub and just have the mouse plugged into that. I linked the first one I could find on newegg…cheaper ones can be found.

Newegg.com - BELKIN F5U237-APL-S Hi-Speed USB 2.0 7-Port Hub

I know this doesn’t help but I’ve always had a problem with Razor mice which is unfortunate cause I really like them! I have an older Copperhead that behaved exactly in Win XP. It was like the USB port just shut down. Unplugging then re plugging in the mouse would get it working again. Fortunately it didn’t happen that much. I tried a Naga mouse in a Win 7 machine and all I got was BSOD! In fact the pc wouldn’t even boot with the mouse plugged in. I just returned it.

I can see Razor has a firmware update for the DeathAdder 3500. Have you tried that? Also make sure you have the latest drivers for your OS.

Good luck!

Hey fizikel,

I wouldn’t write off a powered USB just yet. I’ve seen many times how a powered USB hub has cured all kinds of USB peripheral issues. Especially on laptops. If your mouse is not getting the juice it needs to work properly than this may just be your fix.

Don’t know if changing the polling rate will fix your issue but I guess it’s worth a try. I’d first check if you can do this within the Razor driver. If not you can try this.

How to Increase USB Sample Rate in Windows Vista/7

Let's see what VEW has to report.
Download VEW by Vino Rosso http://images.malwareremoval.com/vino/VEW.exe
and save it to your desktop

Double click it to start it Note: If running Windows Vista or Windows 7 you will need to right click the file and select Run as administrator and click Continue or Allow at the User Account Control Prompt.
Click the check boxes next to Application and System located under Select log to query on the upper left
Under Select type to list on the right click the boxes next to Error and Warning Note: If running Windows Vista or Windows 7 also click the box next to Critical (not XP).
Under Number or date of events select Number of events and type 20 in the box next to 1 to 20 and click Run
Once it finishes it will display a log file in notepad
Please copy and paste its entire contents into your next reply
