Solved Mouse pointer causing issues in video playback

Terribly sorry if this has been covered, but a search didn't yield anything for me. I have a secondary machine hooked to my tv in the main room. It's a bit dated:
AMD fx-60
4gig ram (just typical generic ram)
8800gtx nvidia
500 gig seagate sata hdd
Asus mobo, (the exact model escapes me atm.)
win 7 pro x64

Anyhow, I've basically turned it into a media machine for the large tv in the main room. As long as I use power dvd and play straight blu ray stream everything is fine. However when trying to playback avi/mkv/mp4 in kmplayer/media player/vlc etc.. of any quality level I get stuttering and pixelation, that gets drastically worse when the mouse pointer appears on the screen.
Furthermore I've noticed a very slight...almost lag related to the mouse pointer even when video is not playing. I've killed almost all the appearance settings in an attempt to figure out what the problem is with no real change in performance.
I've also made several attempts already at fixing any codec issues that might be there, including buying the coreavc codec to make use of the nvidia cuda that is supported by the card. I also played with bringing down the number of running processes both in system management and with msconfig (Startup)
...anyhow any input or further ideas would be welcome.

...oh and hi... I'm new here. I have a fair understanding of computers, build my own systems minor oc'ing, basic software troubleshooting etc.. this one just isn't making much sense to me.

The problem persist, as much as I hate posting three times in a row.
Perhaps if no one is able to suggest a fix, does anyone know of software that will test mouse latency for me? because as a gamer I'm guessing what I'm looking at is a 500ms to 1000ms latency response issue here between mouse movement and screen. The video playback issue is secondary as it goes away when the pointer disappears anyhow.

driver scrub and reinstall did no good.
Changed power profile, no result.
Changed pointer type in mouse settings... problem magically goes away.
Hi def video playback is now proper on the machine in question, and sync problems are gone along with the pointer lag.

Guess I can file this under resolved, though I still have no idea what the real source of the problem was.

You may never know, lol, but...

When you buy any peace of hardware, it is always useful to install drivers for the device from the manufacturer's disk that came with the package, or a newer setup version downloaded from the manufacturer's website online; even though you may not need the actual software that supports the drivers, it always does help when using the hardware in general. This goes for mice and keyboards as much as any other peace of hardware (like GPU and sound).

So if you continue experiencing these issues, try and install the drivers for the mouse (unless its a totally generic PS2/USB device).

Yeah it's a old school 5 button intellimouse win 7 automatically installed the entire software package because it's a microsoft product.

In your software, there may be an option to disable or turn off hardware acceleration......disable the acceleration.

Well as I said since changing the pointer fixed the problem I'm considering it done with. It's just a strange symptom on a very old system. That was once high end (paid nearly a grand for that fx60 CPU new) but now barely meets reqs to play blu-ray streams properly.
