Hi,

I am new to Windows 7 and it is driving me crazy. I graduated from Windows XP, skipping Vista. I am using an Acer laptop running Windows 7 Home Premium. When I am moving the mouse pointer across the screen sometimes I follow links without clicking on them. I am taklen there just because I paused for a moment over the link. This also is happening in all of my windows. How can I change this so that I have to click on things to select them. I tried researching this, but I guess I don't know what keywords to search on. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Jowi

From the thread here, there are two main options.

1. CP/Ease of Access/Mouse/Make mouse easier to use/uncheck "Activate a window by hovering..."

2. CP/Folder options/General/select Double Clicking

If neither of those, perhaps Tap-to-click is involved? Do you have an icon in the system tray (right side of TaskBar) for the Touchpad? If so, right click on it and see if there is a setting for Tapping or Tap-to-click or something like that. If yes, uncheck it.

Or just don't rest your hands on the touch-pad. Most have a palm-check feature which will help if you have lazy wrists.

Solved, thanks

Thanks for all the suggestions. Deselecting Tap to Click did the trick. I thought it was because I hovered, but it was because I had to move my finger back to the left side of the touchpad and that was being interpreted as a click.

Thanks again all,

Jowi
