Solved Mouse recommendation please

Having tried everything conceivable to make my Logitech RX720 cordless mouse play nicely with W7 I'm giving it the big heave-ho. It's fine when W7 has been freshly loaded, in either x86 or x64 guise - but that doesn't last long.

Performance degrades. Not sensitivity, as a pointer it works fine. Selecting text or cropping graphics etc becomes an infernal pain as W7 seems to think I've let go of my LH mouse button when I haven't.

I've tried using W7 without Logitech Setpoint, and with Logitech Setpoint. With Setpoint onboard I've tried letting W7 manage the mouse movements and have alternately tried letting Setpoint manage this.

Results are the same. It works fine intially. Then things go downhill.

Problems arise in Word, Excel, Corel Paintshop, Notepad... you name it, every type of application you can think of.

Anyway - I'm no longer concerned with solving this issue. What I'm after are recommendations for a decent three button corded laser mouse (and not a gaming mouse or a 5/8 button one either) which has sideways tilt as well as scrolling and a middle click on the wheel button. 800dpi+ is fine.

Preferably one which requires no additional management software and which allows Windows to natively control it.

So, if anyone can make recommendations I'd be grateful...

I don't know if this will help... I've had some weird issues like that on my Logitech M505 when I have my cell phone sitting too close to it (skips / hangs on the screen at times). If I keep it (cell phone) a foot or more away, then it is fine.

I think I have a B100 Logitech around that I used to use, it's a very cheap corded and it worked fine, but I just can't stand the cord. But I don't think it has the sideways tilt.

Might be worth trying a M505, they have them on Amazon and if you get a red one, it looks like they are about half of the normal price. Amazon is normally good about taking stuff back if it doesn't work out for you.

I bought my first M505 about a year ago. The scrolling wheel started to have problems after 4 or 5 months, so I bought a new one. The new one has worked perfectly since then.

Sorry I don't know of any other wired ones to suggest.

Thanks for your input and thoughts, but if it were RF interference or a mobile handset's Bluetooth then I'd also be faced with wondering if it was my WiFi repeater/AP or nearby router, or indeed possible RF interference from the marine radio band as I live beside a busy harbour.

Placing the phone near the USB receiver or the mouse seemed to make no difference. There's nothing which I've found that provoked the behaviour, except the length of time the mouse was in service. Swapping USB ports would temporarily fix issues, but performance would soon degrade once more. I suspect I will have to blame the drivers ultimately.

Whatever the cause, it's being replaced with a Lenovo 41U3074 corded mouse, which seems to offer everything which I require, and a better resolution than the Logitech unit to boot.

Just an update, in case anyone else should find themselves pondering the mouse issue... but with Christmas now out of the way I've only just had the chance to install and trial the Lenovo 41U3074 in Win7, and it's performance simply blows away the prior Logitech kit. The button actions are so precise, the wheel more responsive, and at 1600dpi out of the box it's infinitely more accurate and crisper than what I have used before.

Additionally the unobtrusive Mouseware seems to play beautifully with Win7, both x86 and x64.

Pump up the sensitivity to 2,000dpi and the accuracy in Paint Shop is breathtaking.

Thoroughly recommended.
