Mouse that doesn't get dirty?

Hey guys,

I've been using my Microsoft Wireless Mouse 5000 (and the Microsoft Wireless Comfort Keyboard 5000) for nearly a year, and I love them both. I use it for everything, including gaming.

My mouse is sort of getting annoying... It likes to get dirty. Lots of dust and debris on the underside, and some junk near the wheel area.

Does anyone know of a mouse that doesn't get dirty? Just annoying seeing how sort of nasty it looks.

Well you could clean it...and the surface you use the mouse on.

Hello there, besweeet.

Every mouse in the whole world is going to get dirty because our hands are greasy. You could clean your mouse with a soft cloth to get the grease out, and the mouse pad, clean it with a little brush to remove the dust and stuff.

Other than that, pretty impossible to find a mouse that doesn't get dirty.

Aside from regular/occasional cleaning - all mice get dirty to some degree.

I had a friend whose keyboard was dirty. He put it in the dishwasher. :roflmao: I swear, true story. He then went out and bought a new keyboard.

If you are concerned about the underside get a Logitech Trackman ball mouse. Really comfortable and accurate to use but it doesn't need to move.
Very occasionally you have to take the ball out and remove plaque.

Go with laser mice and table place-mat pads.

I came to this forum because I decided to add Win7 to my stable. Not ready for Linux(types). Anyway, why is my first post here, about dirty mouses? How did I find this about mice, in the first place? Oh, it was by tapping one of the numerous numbers at the very bottom of the forum after I Googled. ... Back to dirty mice.

Do they even sell ball (mechanical) mice any more? Just turn the locking ring left, grab the ball before it drops, and suck on the thing... :-/ Wash it and wipe the interior cavity of the ball housing.

Mice balls require frictioned (textured) surfaces to roll over. Textures catch crud, and mice balls work just like snow balls when building snowmen and snowgirls.

I use a wireless laser mouse. Disposable batteries for it stink, and the next one will use rechargeables. I have never cleaned it, ... in ... probably 3 or 4 years. I use plastic table place matts for the pad. They are the cheapest thing next to (or, cheaper) a candy bar. Just experiment for a neutral background or the pointer will shake and jive.

See my post, number 9 on this thread. It's not a mouse with a ball on the bottom but a ball on the top.
I'm using one right now and it's great, fast and precise. As the body of the mouse doesn't need to move at all (although it does move quite easily on a smooth surface) you don't have to worry about mouse mats or the surface underneath at all. The ball is easy to remove for cleaning.
I've tried a couple of expensive gaming mice and I perform better in games with this so I always return to it.
They also make a wired version, which is what I use.
