My computer, which is a Toshiba C655, thinks I am holding the primary mouse button down, when I've just simply clicked. I don't have Click Lock on, I've tried using my bamboo tablet, and the problem persists. I've also tried a reboot, but that didn't work either. If anyone can give me a solution, please respond.

Edit: When i tap on the trackpad itself, he problem doesn't occur. when i press the left button below the trackpad, though, it happens. is this a hardware problem?

Hello walllable. Welcome to the forum.

Yes it could be. That is a common symptom of a defective touchpad.

Two things can help determine this:

  • If you can attach a mouse or external touchpad and they work normally.
  • If you uninstall (remove) the touchpad from Device Manager and then restart and let it reinstall and then reinstall it's driver and the problem persists.

i think i can see why it's a hardware problem, it's getting worse and worse, and i've had the laptop for a number of years.

This happened on a family member's laptop. After researching the cost of a replacement touchpad (cheap part - ungodly shipping- complete disassembly required) we decided the best course of action was to learn to love a mouse.

Well, okay. I actually own a mouse, but I've since lost it. I'll try to find it.
