Move on or attempt to fix it?

i've completely disassembled / reassembled several, and made one from a box of scrap laptops.
w/that in mind:

set aside your whole desk
get a large muffin (cupcake) tin - that's to hold the screws
download the repair / maintenance guide from the hp site - very important
follow the order of dis-assembly stated in the guide (assemble in reverse order...)

things to remember -
tiny screws are different lengths - hence the need for the guide and the muffin tin - keep it in order
could be lots of tiny plastic tabs locking things together
the flat cables (like paper thin...) slide into their female receptacles, gently slide the brown keeper forward before sliding the cable in
make sure all the cables are plugged in, it's a shame to have to take it apart again for that. (ask me how i know...)

When I say last march I actually meant March of 2009 (sorry for the bad wording originally).

I'm really split on what I want to do with it. My options are

A. Repair it.

or

B. Sell the working parts and upgrade my desktop.

While I understand your quandary, I don't think that anyone can decide what you should do but you. Every decision that we make has downsides, and sometimes the ups and downs even out. If the solution isn't dictated by weighing all of the factors, sometimes one must simply decide by preference. Be glad that you have a choice, many times we don't.
