Solved Move the address bar below the menu bar in Windows Explorer

Well I tried deleting everything in the registry relating to the address bar/rebar, and now I don't have an address bar in open/save dialogs. I'm still getting it in explorer though.
Can you describe more exactly what exactly you did at this stage?
I've had the exact same results when deleting the CLSID registry settings relating to the address bar. These registry settings were discussed earlier in this thread.
Which ones specifically?

Oh, it was so long ago, I really don't remember. They should be somewhere in this thread though. I know at least one of them should do the trick. Sorry I don't have a more concrete answer, but I really can't remember off the top of my head.

My primary laptop has Windows 10 on it, and my shared desktop (which is actually a laptop being used as a desktop) has Windows 7 Professional on it. I still use both, but I would say I use my laptop a bit more now.
Well, I renamed {056440FD-8568-48e7-A632-72157243B55B} to _{056440FD-8568-48e7-A632-72157243B55B}
and the address bar disappeared in the open/save dialogs.

Yup, that does the trick.

Yup, that does the trick.
The problem is that it seems this dll is called from Explorer directly (unlike the open/save dialogs). I found this CLSID inside explorerframe.dll and tried to change some digits in it, but after that explorer refused to start. Maybe on Win7 this would work.

By the way, I renamed the following keys:
{C0B4E2F3-BA21-4773-8DBA-335EC946EB8B}
{DC1C5A9C-E88A-4dde-A5A1-60F82A20AEF7}
{42F85136-DB7E-439C-85F1-E4075D135FC8}
(all these keys exist in registry in two places each)

and in many applications (for instance, Notepad) the file open/save dialogs changed to the XP style:
