Solved movie converters

Is there a good movie converter software that will convert mkv format to avi or other popular formats?

I use FormatFactory to transcode all sorts of video formats.

Simplest one to use that I've found is "Mobile Media Converter".

Just drag the file you want to convert into it's window and choose the output you want--avi, wmv, mp3, etc.

I just checked MKV files. I had 4 of them on my hard drive and used it to convert all 4 to avi--it worked fine.

Just a note about the video converter Handbrake, if you've considered trying it. MalwareBytes found a PUP in the installer. It seems to install an unwanted browser extension/program when you install Handbrake. I didn't bother installing it for that reason, and I would advise caution to those considering using it.
