Solved Movies make display turn off while through TV.

While watching movies on my desktop via RGB(VGA) cable using MPC- Home Cinema the video will turn black then show normally again after about a second. This happens at a regular interval. While watching videos on Hulu the video remains gone until I move the mouse or press a button on my keyboard. I'm pretty sure I disabled the screensaver and power features so I am unsure if it is the OS causing this or the TV. Does anyone have any suggestions, or what settings I should be looking for to change in case I am missing some.

Yep. I'm thinking it has something to do with the output I'm using, I would bet money that through a monitor this wouldn't be happening.

I have a feeling that the frequency that you're outputting to your TV is causing it to refresh the connection, have you tried setting your resolution and refresh rate to the ones supported by your TV?

Wow, I had a busy week and completely forgot I made this thread ... found it in my bookmarks.

MrNeeds: How do I know if I am using a compatible resolution or not? Under my graphics card resolution options it has resolutions under two categories: "PC" and "HD, SD." For whatever resaon, the HD, SD settings always place the resolution off center, and you cannot reposition it properly.

Good news is that I figured out what the problem was, bad news is that I feel like an idiot now.

Awhile back I wrote a program to turn off a monitor while idle since I was letting my roommates borrow an extra monitor, and they kept altering power saving options. I tested this application of course on my own computer, and had it running at start up.

Removed from start up ... problem solved. Ha....ha....ha...

Anyone capable of writing a program that can turn off an additional monitor while idle, is not exactly an idiot!!! Good for you that you have the smarts to be able to do that.
