Solved moving laptop hard drive to another laptop

I have two Asus laptops. Laptop A has a 256 gig hard drive. Laptop B has a 512 gig drive. Both are sata drives. What I want to do is move the hard drive from Laptop B to Laptop A. I want to either do a repair install or just reinstall the Win 7 with a custom install so I don't lost any data.

Laptop A is overheating . Fan not working.

What's the best thing to do? Suggestions?

I couldn't do a repair install. I ended up doing a custom install. Took over 8 hours to run all the updates. WOW

Get a Win7 with SP1 installer to save a lot of time. Just google the official ISO at Digital River.

Also in the future to move a HD to new hardware SysPrep it first: SysPrep to move HD to another computer
