Hi Guys,
I have two hard drives in our Dell Precision T3400 PC, #0 for the OS and applications and #1 for user data.
Drive #0 with the Win7 64-bit is fine, but drive #1 is failing, it has a tendency to disappear from the operation after 30 min. of using it. So, I decided to replace both HDDs with one SSD, moving the image of drive #0 to a 100 GB partition on the SSD and the user data from the failing drive #1 to the remaining part of the SSD (1.7 TB)
So, what is the proper way, timing and sequence to change the hard drive type from IDE to AHCI Mode in the BIOS?
How and when to install or have the proper drivers ready for the Samsung 860 EVO 2TB SSD drive, while the two HDD drives are still in the system AND have the new SSD hooked up to the system through USB, or after I backed up and restored the image of the OS drive to the SSD and the HDDs are no longer in the system?
