I've got two related problems. But I'll start with the laptop. I want to put Linux on it as my core OS but I don't want to lose the original OS (windows 7 64-bit)

So I've moved the hard drive to a USB3.0 drive cage. When it boots I get a blue screen of death (even on the recovery screen)

So what do I need to do to get windows 7 to boot from a USB drive so I don't have to keep taking the laptop a part to put the "original" hard drive back any time there's a need to load up windows.

Don`t want to dual boot ?

Windows 7 is not supposed to be able to boot from usb, but I`ve read a thread or two here where people have had success.

It's going to be quad-booted. Win7, OEL6, Solaris, and Fedora Linux Thus the need for the extra hard drive. Problem is once it's undocked I have no need for the other three OS's. But want the primary hard drive in the computer to be Fedora Linux where the other three are on the USB partitions.

Guess if it's not supposed to be possible I'm looking for the other route. E-SATA drive then Windows can't tell the difference. :D

That`s a pita for a laptop, something I wouldn`t even bother with :D
