Some time back I remember reading something online that Mozilla was developing a phone OS? Anyone know if they every launched a beta/test of the OS? Or did they just give up because Andriod and Apple already have the market?

As far as I know, they are still in the process of developing it. The os is called Boot2Gecko or Boot to Gecko. You can read more about it here: https://wiki.mozilla.org/B2G
