Same problem for .mp4 and .m4v files

I am having this same problem for my .mp4 and .m4v files that have embedded cover art. Any advice?

Would anyone be willing to send me a .reg file to fix this? Thanks a ton!!!!

.mp4 is a container and, as far as I know, shouldn't really be used for audio streams only, you have m4a for that.
Secondly, m4v should be used for videos exclusively, and Explorer automatically generates a thumbnail from the video stream, so that's why you're having problems.

I believe I might know the problem with windows not showing album art. I am running Vista, had the same problem, and just fixed it. It is easy.

Windows Explorer (in Vista) does not like ID3 v2.4 tags for album art. I went to MP3Tag program and changed the tag version. (Tools-Options-Tags-Mpeg: then select 'ID3v2.3 UTF16' -

Open any folders giving you problems, make the changes as above, select all files, hit save. All files are now v2.3, which Explorer likes - you should see your artwork.

v2.4 is a fairly new(ly accepted) concept of tags, and is indeed buggy. It may not always create problems such as these, but avoiding them and/or changing them to UNICODE v2.3 is certainly the way to go when tagging files.

Thanks for the heads up :)

Issue was with registry

The problem arises when your registry becomes corrupt or maybe some registry cleaner program deletes it thinking it's useless.
I copied this registry file from a friend's PC and imported it on mine. Magically, all MP3 files having album art (whether embedded or not) started showing thumbnails...
Issue Solved!! :)

Thanx a lot dude

ur registry solved problem now all mp3 files are showing album art in thumbnail...

the problem may lie with the program. After having some annoyances with Adobe, I changed quite a few things. The only tagged file that won't show thumbnails remains .mp3, all others work fine.
So maybe you only deleted a program generating the file tagged icon.
