I've done this 100 times before with BurnAware Free, but now it's not working.

I converted a Youtube video file to mp3 using an online program.
I opened BurnAware free, and at the slowest speed, 4x, burned the 33MB file to a CD-R.But all I have is a 44 byte cda file.

So I switched to CDBurnerXP for the next one, also at 4x. Same result

I know cda files point to other files, but where is it pointing?

A CD isn't a file, but a musical piece is.

They already WERE mp3, in a folder on my desktop, and they played fine. I have 5 pieces of classical music, each about 35-40 MB. BurnAware took close to half an hour to make the 2nd one, so what was it doing? And where's the file?

Tried to play them in VLC. No, they don't play because they're only a few KB. The weird thing about this is that I've made many CD's before, using the same method. I've been advised to burn at the slowest speed to avoid getting a cda file.

How did you convert a "video" file to mp3? Are you talking about the audio for the video? If so, when you select the type of disc to burn, are you selecting Audio CD?

I've never tried playing a CD with VLC. What about media player?

VLC is my all-around player for music and videos, plays every format ever invented, and is open-source.
Same results with WMP.

Would you upload one of your files to something like dropbox; share it; create a link and then post the link here?

:o Found the problem. I've always made my CD's on this computer (HP in my sig), but I did that bunch on the Gateway in my sig. I inherited it from a customer, and the CD/DVD player must be defective. The CDs came out fine on this machine.

Thanks for your time.
