MP3 tracks playing beyond the seek bar

I have a problem with an album that was sent to me by a friend. It is an album of mine that I sent to him to be mixed and mastered. I'm encountering a problem though, a lot of the time when I play the track, the seek bar doesn't truly represent the length of the track. Sometimes if I click to the end of the track, where it should finish, it is only about 2 minutes into the track but it could say as much as 8 minutes on the seek bar and it just carries on playing the track even though the seek bar is right at the end.

try re-tagging the music with mp3tag or re-rip the file. Also what program did you use to rip and tag the album in the first place. I don't thing this is a Windows problem per se but one of Audio editing.

I have tried retagging in mp3tag but its limited to just artists name, artwork etc. The thing that makes me think its a windows problem is it playes perfect on my phone.

Have you tried using MP3val on it?

MP3val is a small, high-speed tool for MPEG audio files validation and (optionally) fixing problems. It was primarily designed for verification of MPEG 1 Layer III (MP3) files, but supports also other MPEG versions and layers. It can be useful for finding corrupted files (e.g. incompletely downloaded).
