Hi guys,

I am attempting to simply copy downloaded mp4 files from my laptop/PC to my generic usb mass storage device. When I copy the files they lose the picture of the file and no longer play even after they have fully transferred and the size is exactly the same as the original file.

Any help would be much appreciated.

After copying a file to your USB drive, right click on it and choose "Open with". Select your video play program.

If that works, then you can make the association permanent: When you click Open With, choose the option to look for a program to open it with. On the next screen, check the box that says "Always use this program with this type of file", then click on your video play program from the list.

The problem is not playing the files the problem is that the files being transferred to the USB stick are losing something or being corrupted during the transfer. I know this because files that work fine on another usb stick are not working on the 499GB one. I'm trying to play vr videos on Littlestar for the playstation 4.

If your files work fine from all storage devices except that one, then that one storage device must be bad.

Yea but I find that strange because it's bought brand new from amazon. However if it is broken or corrupt is there any way to fix it?

It may be defective. Flash drives are not always reliable. And this one has an extremely high capacity for a flash drive, which is new technology for this type of storage device. Since it is a new technology (such a huge capacity on a flash drive), it is not yet mature, and therefore I suspect that the flash drive is defective.

From the description: "The Flash Drives have not met their performance standards which allows us to sell these at discount prices. These memory cards are upgraded cards, therefore storage can vary from 8GB to 512GB even though it may say 512GB. Speed may also vary. All of our memory cards are guaranteed to have a minimum capacity of 8GB. We recommend that all files loaded on this card should be backed up by another storage device. It appears that in this instance you bought something that can't do its job. I would be very suspicious of a 512 GB flash drive that cost only about 12 pounds. I would expect to pay a lot more for a flash drive of that capacity.

Here is a name-brand 512 GB flash drive (Corsair) from a name-brand vendor (New Egg). The price is $290.99, which is 218.42 pounds. That price makes a whole lot more sense than the 12 pounds that you paid.
