I recently received an mp4 file. It is a video of instructions on how to edit something. It's about three minutes long.

Since I use not only Windows 7 but an iPad, I need to be able to view it all over. Ideally I'd like to print out each 'page' but realize it is a moving picture and not text

Still ... is there a way to print this?

You could do try to do a screen cap of each "page" as shown in the video and save them as a series of jpg files. You'd then look at them in your favorite image viewing app, rather than in a text editor like Word.

You could read the text you see onscreen in the video into a microphone and use speech recognition software to turn your speech into text.

If it's only 3 minutes long, I'd probably just try to watch the video and summarize it myself by typing into Word or whatever you have for a text editor.

Thanks. With memory loss I couldn't remember what to do. Unfortunately this video points out where to click in software that can be confusing without pics. Otherwise I'd have taken notes.

I guess I have a couple of options and need to figure which is easier, and cheaper. Hiring a freelancer to do screen caps or hiring one to do the speech recognition software (unclear-enough speech, due to my illness). For software. I'd spend an hour trying and retrying to enunciate clearly so the software could interpret my words. I'd end up with something so disjointed and so uncomputereeze, the Pope would lose patience trying to transcribe!

Basically you can extract video frames and save them as images. It might be a lot of work to go through the extracted images to get the ones that you need though!

The technique needed is to set the required frame rate for image capture but without seeing the video it's hard to give advice on this. You might want to extract one frame fer second or every few seconds - or just choose all frames.

You can set the start and end points using to sliders to cut out anything that's not needed.

You can increase or decrease the image size by choosing the "Frame Size"

Create an output folder somewhere handy like on your desktop.

Run the program and choose "Extract" then navigate to the output folder that you set up/

That should sort it out.

Thank you! I'll go there in a few. I just viewed the file but it is so tiny on my laptop the text isn't readable. So note-taking will be hit or miss. Your option seems better suited to me.
