I have been fiddling around with codec packs and finally found 1 that is ideal for me (Codec Pack All in 1 1.6.3)
Everything works perfectly except for mkv thumbnails which I found another way around it by installing Icaros 2.0
The only problem remaining is that .mp4 files are not able to display subtitles in WMP 12, they work perfectly well in VLC but for aesthetic reasons I prefer WMP.
Is there anyway to make this work with some sort of registry tweak without having to install additional codec packs such as Shark 007 which even though it states to work without any mess, it ruins all my file types associations and subtitle display.
SO to summarize I am looking for a registry hack that can force WMP 12 on WIN7 x64 show subtitles
