MP4 to DivX

I have a "Phillips Personal DVD Player" that does not play MP4 videos.

I have used "MP4 to VOB" to convert a MP4 to VOB format.
- but the VOB result is has blown from 800MB (MP4) to 3.1GB (VOB)

The only other video format that will play is DivX (according to the player's user manual)

DivX converter download is an installer, with no options for me to observe and chose what I want on my PC.
- has anyone installed and used DivX Converter ?

I use a free converter called Format Factory.

Format Factory does not read nor convert to DivX

Why "Phillips" make a portable DVD player that ONLY plays DivX and VOB is beyond me.
- all our movies are backed up as MP4

AND MP4 is so common

I converted one MP4 movie to VOB but the size bloated from 806MB to 3.1GB
- and it converts in real time (a >2hr movie was >2 hrs to convert)

Phillips Portable DVD player only recognises
DivX
VOB
and original DVD discs (and I think they are VOB ?)

DivXMuxGUI | DivX Labs Give this a shot if your track is in a size the player can already read that should just mux it to divix, you might need to use a tool like tsmuxer to demux your mp4 first to audio,video.
