Hi MS. (And I know a lot of MS employees DO read these Forums).

I'm glad you've added a nice fast SIMPLE burn ISO function to W7 -- works great and is a nice SIMPLE non Bloat app.

Why not just add the CREATE ISO function - I know one can do it with the CLI (Command Line Interface -- not via GUI) program makeisofs - but wouldn't it be great to have a nice SIMPLE BURN app embedded into the OS so I can finally get rid of having to use some of these bloated Burn DVD apps -- Nero used to be good but much too much bloat.

I'd also like to see some DVD AUTHORING functionality added to Windows Media Center and a better Database system for organising media -- I do it manually with a MySQL DB (and a WAMP server Windows, Apache, Mysql, PHP -- can't be bothered with IIS - too complicated for me ).

(Windows Port of makeisofs here)

I suppose the EU would rabbit on about competion here - but it DOES make logical sense - but I suppose Sense and the EU commission are contradictions in terms.

I'd also ask for the CREATE ISO to include making it bootable. In otherwords, CREATE BOOTABLE ISO.

While not directly from MS (the author, Alex Feinman, is a Microsoft MVP), this ISO recorder has served me well since the days of XP:

A bit off topic... IIS 7 is too complicated for you? I never found a server so easy to setup and get running with PHP! And yes my main development language has been PHP for several years now...For me I would drop MySQL and use SQLite which is built right into PHP's extension, no extra service running. http://php.iis.net/

Hi there

two things -- IIS is not too difficult by itself but to get a decent server running with php and a database function WAMP is fine (especially if you are used to the equivalent Linux LAMP functionality).

With IIS you have to add a database and Php etc. the WAMP system is much easier as its essentially a 1-click install.

As for DB systems that's basically user preference -- I've used MySQL for ages -- works fast and is robust and stable.
Others might like SQlite, Ms sql server or whatever.

The other point -- Burning an ISO is not the problem -- the W7 does it fine

I'm talking about CREATING the ISO from a set of files in the first place.

I think that creating ISOs is associated too often with ripping copyrighted material. Now I know that every ISO isn't copyrighted, but M$ probably doesn't want to be involved with making it EASIER to rip DVDs and CDs (which may or may not be copyrighted).

This is just a possibility.
