does msse shut down windows defender on instal?
had panda cloud antivirus, an in event viewer found a registry hive leak, that it would'nt detect the problem.
i down loaded an installed msse, after removing panda. an msse found and removed 2 issues.(listed below)
was wondering what would of shut down windows defender?
tried turning it back on, but it tries, but fails to start up.(system config)
don't know why this paste/copy turned out so large....sorry.

Yes, Windows Defender is disabled and turned off when you install MSE since MSE is used in replacement of Windows Defender instead afterwards.

Hi comptourist

You are spot on in your thoughts MSE does turn off windows defender on install as it uses much the same definitions as defender so it is no longer required to run.This is perfectly normal.You will not be able to turn it back on.
Im sure one of our security experts will have a look at those viruses and give you more information on them as its not my strong point.

is there anything else necessary or recommended to do after msse remove those issues? i down loaded new java after msse removed it.
reran updated msse scans, and all came back clean.

MSE, Panda, avast! ect.. are not the best choices for malware removal & repair. They are anti-viruses and they are all designed for prevention first and removal second. You should have Malwarebytes ( Malwarebytes : Free anti-malware, anti-virus and spyware removal download ) and HitMan Pro ( Home - SurfRight ) in your arsenal, and you should scan with one or the other at least once per week. SUPERAntiSpyware.com | Remove Malware | Remove Spyware - AntiMalware, AntiSpyware, AntiAdware! is also a good tool, but not as good as MBAM or HMP.

It wouldn't hurt to run Microsoft Standalone System Sweeper at boot to scan your system to help make sure it's clean.

thanks for your recommendations and insight.
i have MBAM(free) also, and it did not detect those issues, updated before the scaning, atleast 2 times a week.(full scan)
will HMP play well with msse?

You will need to create either a bootable dvd or usb drive. The tutorial Brink posted will show you how

Hitman Pro is compatible with most any AV. At least I have never heard of any issues with HMP.

the scan came back clean(no problems)
it looks asthough msse took care of the issues.
