Can you tell me where the msconfig or equivalent is located in Win 7? I could not find it in system32 folder. I am running 64 bit version. I would like to make an icon to start it as I have in Win XP. The msconfig I got by a search was no good.

If you go to control panel then choose "Large icons" then go to "Administrative Tools", scroll down to "System Configuration" then right click, you can choose to "Pin to taskbar" or choose "send too" then pick "place icon on desktop".

You can also just type in system config in start/search but before you open it, right click the little icon above, you have the same options there as Ken said before.

Maybe you were trying to create the icon from the open system configuration window?.

I no longer get the needed search result when I type "msconfig" in the search bar (or "services.msc" for that matter); I get msconfig search results which are my from Windows.old folder. Any idea why this suddenly changed and how I can get it back?
