MSconfig can only see 1 processor on a quad core

Uncheck the option Number of processors: There could also be an option in your BIOS to prevent your system from using all cores. Both these options are only for diagnostic purposes. Normally, you want all cores to be used.

hey im a little new to this site so dont really know how to reply hope this works though but anyways yea i see 4 cores now and i can select 4 to boot. Thanks dude but why did it happen in the first place?? also if u dont mind can u add me on msn so i can msg u whenever? lol

the normal setting is for the box to be unticked. this will enable all your cores.

only tick the box if you wish to limit the number of cores used for whatever reason.

THANK U VERY MUCH FOR HELP,I SOLVED MY ISSUE BY USING YOUR GUIDE.
I am glad for this solution,it worked perfectly & Windows is healthy & running both cores again.
Interesting is,missguide to check that option to "increase boot speed" is present also in some books about Windows,f.e.in book 333 Tips for Windows it was advised by author to check that option,many so called experts mislead users that way & profaning this myth,thus this is 1 of the strongest myths about Windows,thank U for fixing it & help bust this dangerous myth.
