Your internet connection is fine? Have you checked your firewall - if you have a third party one - isn't stopping the connection? MSE is working fine here.

No other antivirus program installed, and it was working fine as of the day before yesterday. Internet connection is OK--email, Firefox and IE 8 all work fine. I might try to uninstall and reinstall it.

I just restored my computer to a version of 2 days ago, and all seems fine. Not sure what happened, but it appears to be fixed. Thanks to all for the suggestions.
