MSE MPKSL device driver.

hey all, i know alot of people use MSE and i also use it. i thought that this issue had been solved but here it is again. what is this MPKSL missing driver in my device manager. i look it up and it says it has to do with malware protection kernal support library and that this is part of MSE. i did run a patch for this before and it seemed to do the trick and now it seems to be back in force. any clues as to how it returned. i have several of these and they seem to mutiply like rabbits everytime it updates is the best that i can figure out. thanks. poorguy

Could you list all anti anything programs you have installed and what firewall do you use.

The reason I ask is everything I can find is some sort of security service blocking this process. A few have stop this problem by doing updates manually. My understanding is the MPKSL is changed with every new update trying to stop attacks using MSE updates. Something is blocking those new MPKSL. I don't believe MSE, MAM or Windows firewall will do that. I have all three and don't have that problem but I have always done my updates in this fashion. Download Updates but let me choose. I check manually for updates several times a day. Are you able to install updates manually? It could be a infection stopping this driver.

hey layback bear, i also do the manual updates. i have ran several different scans for malware and viruses and have come up with nothing. i am about to do an uninstall and system restore and then reinstall mse and see what that brings. i run mse on vista and have not got this problem. when i talked with microsoft they said to do an uninstall and then reinstall and that would take care of it. it only solved it for a day. i think i am going to try agent ransack and search for all hidden files that mabe i haven't been able to find or see and see if that may help me. i have just been dumping the mpksl as they keep loading. seems that it does act like a virus that keeps regenerating. may a last ditch would be combo fix. what i do not get is what type of driver it is trying to load. don,t seem to be able to find the hardware that it seems to thinl is missing. i am up to date as far as system updates etc. thanks. poorguy

I would start with removing MSE and installing it again.

hey layback bear, thanks for the info it will help out. i am wondering if i might have a mobo driver conflict. the mpksl does seem to look for legacy drivers so maybe a hardware driver. don't know but worth a look. i guess for now i will uninstall mse and clean my drive and see if it returns without mse. i tried viper antivirus and had an SBRE driver conflict and never really figured it out and just unistalled it. i don't know. thanks for the input i will let you know what happens. thanks. poorguy

How to manually uninstall Microsoft Security Essentials 1.0.1963 if you cannot uninstall it by using the Add or Remove Programs item

hey shawn77, thanks for the uninstaller. i was able to remove mse and all of its leftovers. used ccleaner and cleaned my drive and also downloaded microsoft safety scanner and ran a full scan. came up with nothing which is good. also full scan with malwarebytes and came up with nothing.since removing mse no more mpksl drivers are trying to install.may wait a few days before reinstalling mse. thanks. poorguy

Give us a shout back in a coupe three days. I don't think MSE is causing this problem. All I can find is another program is doing this to MSE. Just thinking have you chosen to use the security program that your ISP might of offered. Sometimes they will cause problems. My ISP is Windstream and they offer malware for security, Mc Affe.

hey layback bear, i will contiue to check other software as far as drivers which could be causing this to happen. my windows 7 is a retail copy. the pc is one that is made from a box of parts but runs fast as hell. i will see what i find and then report back. thanks for all the input. poorguy

hey layback bear, well here is what i have done. all hareware drivers all seem to be installed and good, so reinstalled MSE and noticed that the MPKSL drivers are trying to install. uninstalled MSE and installed clamwin free. i haved used it before and like it real well. we will see what else we can locate about MSE/MPKSL driver issue. i know alot of folks have had this problem and some don't seem to ever have had it. hmm. don't know. has to be something in the updating of MSE. i wonder why my vista doesn't have it. thanks for the help and advice. poorguy.
