Welcome to the Seven forums!

Are you sure that it is MSE that you are seeing or could it be MSE updates?

Welcome to Windows Seven Forums.

I would imagine it's because you choose whether to install MSE or not.

My reasoning is that if it's optional to install and use MSE then the updates will fall in the same category.

I thought that the OP was saying:

I already have MSE installed, why do I see it as an option to install again?

I don't see it offered if it is installed.

Although the OP is saying MSE is installed he then goes on to question why the MSE updates i.e. virus definitions; are optional updates rather than important ones.
