When ever I open a folder with many files it takes a while to open or the icons/thumbnails take a long time to generate and in task manager it can be seen that msmpeng.exe is using a core of my cpu @ 100% level. disabling MSE fixes the problem. i've no other anti malware/security application. just MSE and windows firewall. i installed malware bytes now to verify that my system has no spyware though (came clean). windows defender is disabled.

this problem is easily replicated with my downloads from firefox folder (problem is most obvious with this folder) and for a strange reason the stalker call of pripyat benchmark application installer. i'm facing this issue regardless of version - 1611, 1959 & 1961.

this is a clean installation of windows. formatted it just the day before. all windows updates applied too.

I also noticed the same thing with a folder I store downloaded ***.exe programs.
When I open this folder, the small icons take 20 seconds to load. This is definitely an MSE bug of some sort and has been reported to MS and they are aware of it.

Same slowdown here, I think it has something to do with MSSE scanning the folder content during access (more .exe file equals longer scans and hiccups). Maybe it is not a bug, but a faster scan would definitely be welcome (using Microsoft Security Essentials Version: 1.0.1961.0)
