MSI motherboard CD not working

I just did my first pc build and successfully installed windows 7 home edition 64 bit. Immediately after, I inserted the CD that came with my motherboard so I could update the drivers. While trying to load the CD, I get a box that pops up and says DVDSetup application has stopped working and only gives me the option to close it. Now I am unable to update my drivers from the CD and my PC won't connect to the internet so I can't go to the msi website either. Just looking for some help if anyone has ever experienced this problem before. Thanks.

You can download the LAN driver from MSI's website on another PC and transfer it over to your new PC via USB stick. Then once connected to the internet run all rounds of Windows updates until no more are offered.

You can also try reinstalling the OS and as Boozad says load the LAN driver from a stick. I am guessing that software on the board disk is corrupt or just plain bad.

One thing you can do is let us know some of the specs of the machine especially the board make and model. We could probably track down the driver you need then.

Never use drivers disks which are dated as soon as shipped. Today all drivers are on the Support Downloads webpage.

Nor should you force drivers onto Win7 it doesn't necessarily want, until you see what it provides during install and after enabling Automatically deliver drivers via Windows Update (Step 3) to run all rounds of Important and optional Windows Updates, with reboots, until there are no more.

As stated you only need your network driver in your backup so that if it starts up after install unable to connect you can install it to get online and do the Updates. If you plug in by wire it increases the chance of starting up connected.

Thank you both. I was able to download the ethernet driver from my other PC and installed it on my built PC via USB and I now have internet access. My motherboard is a MSI H81M-E33 by the way. Another question I have is, when I finished building my PC, I turned it on and immediately inserted the Windows 7 CD and did the setup. Was I supposed to do anything with the BIOS before installing windows 7 (Because I didnt).

MSI USA H81M-E33 64
Also on the link above, I have the option of doing updates on BIOS, drivers, and utilities. Which ones in each category should I be doing? All I did so far was the USB, VGA, Audio, Ethernet, and Chipset in the "Drivers" category. There are two more options in that category, 8 options in the utility category, and 6 options in the BIOS category. Thanks

Did you read a word I wrote in the post above? If so why would you ask that?

You don`t need all the MSI Utilities, read up on them first.

Leave the bios alone until you know what you`re doing, ruin that and you`ll be buying another motherboard ;)

For now, as Greg stated, just run Windows update.

Slow down, stop rushing.

I didnt read a word you wrote because I started typing my post before yours and I submitted mine afterwards. But I did read it now. I am still confused though about the questions that I asked. I dont know if I should have or should now mess with the BIOS because I havent previously. And I dont know which remaining drivers, utilities, and BIOS I should download from the website.

Ok, it seems like every time I post, someone beats me to the reply. Well I guess I can skip the utilities if I dont need them. Thanks.

You would not still be asking what drivers you need to download if you had read this:

Never use drivers disks which are dated as soon as shipped. Today all drivers are on the Support Downloads webpage.

Nor should you force drivers onto Win7 it doesn't necessarily want, until you see what it provides during install and after enabling Automatically deliver drivers via Windows Update (Step 3) to run all rounds of Important and optional Windows Updates, with reboots, until there are no more.

As stated you only need your network driver in your backup so that if it starts up after install unable to connect you can install it to get online and do the Updates. If you plug in by wire it increases the chance of starting up connected.

Only after all Updates are installed should you import any drivers which are still missing in Device Manager.

Ok, I just did my windows updates. Thank you guys, I appreciate it.

Well at least you are up and running and it is a problem when one is in a hurry - have cross posted many times myself. As advised mate just slow down and take your time and happy computing:)
