Im having with w7 atm when i play music the sound is all muffled and screechy like its being amplified kinda like when you turn the equalizer up full. Ive gone through the sound settings but there arent any that i can see that would be causing the problem. The sound card shows up as Creative AudioPCI (ES1371,ES1373) (WDM) under device manager which is the drivers that installed automatically from windows update.

have you looked in control panel for the creative audio software, im not familiar with your sound card but it may have a settings panel in control panel.
,has this recently started happening have you installed any sound software recently and have you had an update that may have affected it?
if its a fairly recent thing then maybe a system restore to the point before it started happening will help.

Sounds like you need to install the drivers for the card you replaced, this isn't my strong point so hopefully someone else can advise you more .

The last driver released for this card was for XP. I have checked compatibility center and do not see your card listed. You can try uninstalling the driver and reinstalling it to run in compatibility in XP mode to see if it will work. To run in compatibility; right click the installer> select the compatibility tab> check the "run this program in compatibility mode for:" box> then from the drop down, select Windows XP. It may not work. But you can try. The current drivers for your Sound blaster PCI 64bit are here. Windows Compatibility center is here. In the Compatibility center you can chose to "Scan your pc for compatibility." Best of luck.

hi thanks i saw those drivers when i was googling the card but i noticed when i went through the microsoft update catalogue there were newer drivers for vista and 7 that seemed to have been updated by microsoft themselfs. But anyway now it appears the problem is with windows itself and not the card as i just tried using the built in sound card and the problem still exists infact it sounds even worse so now im really confused i know its not my speakers as its the same when using headphones.

Just letting you know i gave up and took the pci card out and reinstalled windows 7 now my built in sound card is working properly so just gonna stick to this one.

Just one more thing tho does anyone know how to tone down the bass in windows 7 cause im getting a lot of bass through my speakers even when my subwoofers turned down and its makin them very bouncy. i like to let the subwoofer control the bass as i live in a flat so need to be able to turn it down at night.
