When updating windows following errors occur:
800736B3
9C59

Already tried to
Fixit by microsoft
Option three on http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/91738-windows-update-reset.html

Didn't help: windows 7 still not updating.

Found this http://www.sevenforums.com/windows-...indow-update-failing-error-code-800736b3.html. This solved one of my errors. But cannot find ewgaa.zip.

Will start with http://www.sevenforums.com/windows-...4840-windows-update-posting-instructions.html.

CBS: http://www.speedyshare.com/JSMVC/CBS.zip

Thanks for you help, Jan (Netherlands)

Unfortunately, the CheckSUR log appears to be incomplete - either it crashed before completion, or there were significant enough errors to prevent it functioning further.

Please attempt to run it again - leave the system alone while it's 'installing' until you get the completion notice, and then find the C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CheckSUR.log file and upload that to your reply.

The CBS log shows a number of problems with the system - once I see a full CheckSUR, I should have some idea what's going on.

Hello NoelDP, thanks for your reply!

It looks like System Update Readiness Tool (SURT) fixed the issue, whatever it was. For now windows is downloading and installing updates without issue's :-)

The original log showed it repaired a number of files, but never reported its final summary, so there may be more problems to come.
Please post the new CheckSUR.log when you can.

NoelDP, you're correct, after installing some updates with succes, now a new error occurs: error 66A

(update Beveiligingsupdate voor Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5 en 4.5.1 op Windows 7, Vista, Server 2008, Server 2008 R2 x64, KB2931368)

Checksur after running Surt: see attachements. If you need more info from CBS folder let me know.

Thanks for your help!

This type of error is sometimes due to hardware problems with the RAM, motherboard, or CPU (usually the RAM, on an older system).

I need to investigate this a little deeper before deciding on a course of action - shout if you haven't heard in 48 hours!

Hi NoelDP; just replaced the RAM yesterday (the old ram gave an error running memtest86) Here the new CheckSur logs (if it makes the difference is finding the source for update error's..)

Error (66A) is still here today (so replacing RAM didn't solve it)

At least they haven't got any worse! :)

I need to have a look at your COMPONENTS registry hive

Please copy the C:\Windows\System32\config\COMPONENTS file (no extension) to your desktop and then compress it - upload the compressed file to your favoured fileshare site (preferably Dropbox or OneDrive) and post a link.

Looks like all three errors in the scan were caused by a single bitflip!

I've now corrected that.

I've uploaded a file - jwmaa.zip - to my OneDrive at Noel's OneDrive
Please download and save it to your desktop.
Right-click on the file and select Extract All, and save to the default destination (which should be a folder on the desktop)

Create a new System Restore point

Open an Elevated Command Prompt, and run the following commands.

REN C:\Windows\System32\config\COMPONENTS COMPONENTS.OLD1
COPY %userprofile%\desktop\jwmaa\COMPONENTS C:\Windows\System32\config

If you get an error with either command, STOP THERE - do not reboot! - post for instructions.

Assuming both commands go OK, reboot, and run another CheckSUR scan - post the new CheckSUR.log file.

Hi NoelDP,
Could you be so kind to specify what I'm doing here?

I can run CMD as administrator. No problem,
Then I just copy/past "C:\Windows\System32\config\COMPONENTS COMPONENTS.OLD1" hit enter and after that I copy/past "%userprofile%\desktop\jwmaa\COMPONENTS C:\Windows\System32\config" and hit enter again?

So what are the files in jwmaa.zip (Manifests/Packages) doing? Am I directing to them with the CMD?

Helping me understand what I'm doing will lower the chance of something going wrong here :-), cheers

Jan

The jwmaa.zip file contains the necessary file for you to be able to replace the current COMPONENTS file - that's why the instructions are phrased the way that they are.

If you follow the instructions, they will back up your current registry hive and replace it with what is hopefully the repaired version - and then test it to produce data which we can use further to do any more necessary repairs.

Hmm NoelDP I don't see how the unzipped and on desktop saved files from jwmaa.zip are helping me out when running the commands in CMD. In yhe command you direct to a folder %userprofile%\desktop\jwmaa\COMPONENTS. But this components I cannot find in the unzipped file (I see only Manifests and packages folder).

So I type C:\Windows\System32\config\COMPONENTS COMPONENTS.OLD1 in CMD, and hit enter, and then type %userprofile%\desktop\jwmaa\COMPONENTS C:\Windows\System32\config, and hit enter again? That will be it (+posting new Checksur)? If I'm missing anything please tell me cause I don't really understand what I'm doing here but don't want to do anything stupid.

Lemme check...

Looks like you downloaded the wrong file.

The file should be jwmaa.zip - the one you appear to have downloaded is jmwaa.zip

Please try again.

Hi NoelDP,
Sorry for my misstake.

I made sure the path to components from your drive is as in the command and started:

In CMD (opended as administrator) C:\Windows\System32\config\COMPONENTS COMPONENTS.OLD1 command but it's telling me the file COMPONENTS "wordt niet herkend als een interne of externe opdracht, programma of batchbestand". In plain English: the file COMPONENTS is not recognized.
