At the moment I'm using displayfusion which is good, but the free trial ran out so you can't even have a secondary taskbar anymore...

Any other good alternatives or would it be worth buying the pro version?

Honestly, the pro version looks good. I did some searching and this was the only software that came up that had good reviews.

If you like the free, you might as well pay and thank them and get extra features as well ha.

Have a look at MultiMon. It has a limited free version which may suit you

TaskBar 2.1 (freeware).
It adds second taskbar to the extended desktop on Monitor 2
It can add third taskbar to the second Extended monitor if you have 3 monitors setup.
It shows only applications from that Monitor
It hides the applications on Monitor 2 and 3 from normal Windows Taskbar
Adds a Move to Monitor button to windows applications (XP only).
Add Text Clipboard Extender
Buttons to roll-right the taskbar (good for full screen Remote Desktop)
Very carefully written, we don't want to crash our own desktop!

It says "sort of works" with Vista/7, but I had no issues on 7
