hey all.

i use a triple-head configuration with my center monitor specified as primary display. i have made some 3xWidescreen wallpapers, and i set them as the desktop backgrounds. it works fine with one caveat:

the images left most border starts on the center display --the image is triple wide, but the right-most third wraps arounmd the the left display.

any ideas on how to properly center the image? i need the center display to be the primary as certain applications throw a fit when they are run on a non-primary channel.

thanks

Hi opus,

I have found a registry key that may help you

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\[GFX Provider]\

In there you should find 'Configurations' and 'Active Devices' (or similar). The 'Active Devices' part can be altered for multiple monitors and contraints.
   Note
I've only got an Intel card so cannot 100% pinpoint what your exact key would be

Hope this helps :)

opus, I had the same situation....but my setup is different.

I have 3 monitors connected to a FirePro 2450 Multi-view video card. I configured the center monitor as my primary display and use 5760*1200 wallpapers set to tile. I had the same results as you did, I played around switching the orders of my cables and monitors. No luck....what I did find to work is that if you set your left display as the primary monitor, the wallpaper shows correctly. It sucks cause I wanted my center monitor to be the main display and now the taskbar shows only on the right screen (thanks MS for not making this a feature in w7 ugggh)! To get around this, I've had to install Object Dock pro and have a dock running across the entire three screens, I also have added a Start menu Launcher from my center portion of my dock. This has worked for me, but its still a hassle because windows will appear or focus on the right screen and I end up having to drag them to the other screens.

I have not tried the registry fix, i'll see if that works. Anybody else have any ideas or suggestions?

Admittedly I'm a little nervous about editing the registry in this case (not normally, though). Photoshop CS4 is finally accelerating the screen draw (which it never did in vista :/ ) , and i'm loathe to risk losing it now that it works. Someone else please be my guinea pig!

I've never had an issue with the taskbar location. I keep mine on the right edge of my right display. When i first installed it showed up, as expected, at bottom center.

I am using a 8800gts as my center display adapter, and a 7600gs as 'wing-drivers'.

edit: I did take a look at the aforementioned registry hack, and there are no pertinent keys in the HKCU hive for NVidia --only control panel options. see attached for expanded hive tree. thanks though.

I just registerd to reply to this, I don't have the clean solution for you but you're mention of Photoshop gave me an idea :)

Simply open up the wallpaper in PS, use the selection tool set to fixed size, the size of single display in you're setup and split the image into 3 layers and swap them, I took the left most part and moved it to the right most then the center goes to the left most and the right most goes to the center, very simple took me max 5min, actually shorter then registering and posting this reply :)

Hell you could even make an action out of this and automate it everytime you get a new wallpaper.

Oskar
