Multiple accounts in Outlook

I don't remember posting this but I had to install Outlook.com from Microsoft to be able to use some (as it turned out useless) software from Samsung for retrieving deleted data.

Now I have an outlook.com account at work (I work in the health system) and I would like to add that to the list of accounts in this outlook but cannot find out how to do it.

The outlook was free as it turned out if that has any bearings on it. Any help with this would be much appreciated.

NB Have now found a way of saving the data on the phone that doesn't involve directly hooking up the phone to the machine but would like to see my work emails when off duty.

Hi, John . I have a brand new Samsung Smartphone ( old one died going through an expensive time ) and I went online with it and managed to download the complete User Manual and stored it under The Internet on the phone.

there it shows the hole doings with data transfer from and to computer better explained than I can.

Hello Thelma I shall have a look - my problem was with the inbuilt memo app I lost a heap of info and the suggestions from Samsung support were ordinary to say the least.

So right now I am using Google Keep app for that as it stores in the cloud - something I don't like but have stored it in a language that only I will know

As for the Outlook situation I shall have to contact the IT people at work I think to get the servers addresses as it seems they are a secure site:sarc:

But I will look at the manual.

No Derek I downloaded the Outlook from Micosoft - https://www.microsoft.com/en-au/outlook-com/ it is a free one onto my Linux machine - it accepted my usual email address but it is a pain to get to add any other email account.

I have added my secondary account but the work address is probably going to need some info / instructions from my IT department.

I only see mobile apps there John, otherwise you just login on a browser to Outlook.com.

Everything else says sign in.

Yes mate that is just what I am doing and I have added my secondary account to the list of accounts but it just refuses to download anything from it or the work one I attempted to add.

The latter I think I said before maybe a security matter but I shall find out tomorrow from the IT people.

So, If everything works except the work email? if so this is normal, as this account will not normally be available on the internet, only when connected to the organisation's private network, This is of course especially important for data security in things such as the Health industry where privacy is imperative.

If there is an external access provided to either part or all of the organisations network for you, you will need to contact your systems department for the details of how to access the system which may actually be an exchange server with an external port.

I believe will need the proper install of a Microsoft exchange client

If you have issues with other accounts then, as this is a Linux app, this should be be taken up with the Linux app developers. As As far As I am Aware, Exchange does not support access from other that a Microsoft application such as Outlook, (Not Outlook.Com), though it may be possible for the mail provider to allow access via a web browser

Thanks Nigel I was sorta beginning to think that - I'll still ask the work IT people as the email acccount is souly mine and I get stuff like my pay period details etc through it.

Not done any proper exchange stuff for a while, but can remember having to set up a Web mail system for remote access for those who did not have vpn access to the system. I think that these days apps like thunderbird may have some exchange support so a Linux desktop may be usable but you'll still need access rights from the it department

I may be ENTIRELY off-base here.
If so, please disregard what I am about to post.

There *are* Android apps that will allow one to access Exchange/OWA accounts.

I use Touchdown to access my work email (part of a BYOD thing).
Once it's set up, it works just fine.
It's a paid app available through Google Play store.
It works both on wifi and on my wireless provider's network, at work, at home and elsewhere.

I don't use the "Outlook" email client or "Outlook.com", so the information I just provided might be of no use to you.
And it's likewise possible that I entirely misunderstand the issue you're trying to resolve.

Ok Nigel yes mate I think I am going to have to get permission and Moxie I only use email on my computers I don't really like emailing on the phone or tab

No problem, I'm still not sure what it was you said you downloaded & installed but that doesn't really matter.
