Hello All,

My computer has been suffering BSOD's for months and I'm at wits end. I built a new system awhile back and the only thing carried over was the SSD. Crashes were happening on the old computer too. Crashes happen randomly so I can't say "if I do this then it crashes". Thought it was maybe my Norton antivirus so I completely unistalled it and tried Security Essentials but no luck. Uninstalled video drivers for awhile but, again, no luck. I pretty much suck at being able to interpret anything related to the crashes, so I thought I'd ask the experts!! :-)

I've attached a zip file with, hopefully, everything that needs to be looked at.

Thank You very much in advance for any guidance.

Dan

Have you checked for firmware update for yours? Corsair SSD Hard Drives ? Solid-State Drives for laptops and desktop PCs with the highest performance Read/Write speeds of up to 555MB/s read and 525MB/s write.

Check, update and let us know if the BSODs continue.

Yes I have the latest drivers. I actually have a different ssd than what I had when I built it. Took this ssd from a laptop that I gave a cousin. This error code is the first time I've seen this one. This is what the prior crash said (from WhoCrashed).

Attached are screen shots of my 2 hard drives using CrystalDiskInfo. The third drive is a new one with nothing on it so I didn't include that one. I ran Seatools on both drives and both passed. I ran the "short drive self test" and "long generic tests" on both.

Is this all the info you wanted to see?

Just crashed again and have uploaded all new info. I was downloading updates to spybot when the crash occurred. Spybot does not run at startup (only when I run a scan then I shut it down).

The latest BSOD is not in the same line to the original issue. It is a stop 0x3B, caused either by failing memory or by some device driver passing bad info to the memory.

But nothing more information can be digged out from the crash dump.

Test your RAM modules for possible errors.
How to Test and Diagnose RAM Issues with Memtest86+
Run memtest for at least 8 passes, preferably overnight.

If it start showing errors/red lines, stop testing. A single error is enough to determine that something is going bad there.

If it does not show any error, enable Driver Verifier to monitor the drivers.
Driver Verifier - Enable and Disable
Run Driver Verifier for 24 hours or the occurrence of the next crash, whichever is earlier.

   Information
Why Driver Verifier:
It puts a stress on the drivers, ans so it makes the unstable drivers crash. Hopefully the driver that crashes is recorded in the memory dump.

How Can we know that DV is enabled:
It will make the system bit of slow, laggy.

   Warning
Before enabling DV, make it sure that you have earlier System restore points made in your computer. You can check it easily by using CCleaner looking at Tools > System Restore.

If there is no points, make a System Restore Point manually before enabling DV.

   Tip

Let us know the results, with the subsequent crash dumps, if any.

Hi danohall, welcome to 7F! :)

In addition to what Arc has posted, and you should follow his advice first; I found this in your system information report, If you would have supplied your full System Specs I would have been able to find more help for your Motherboard (MB) and the USB drivers for it.

Please fill out your System Specs: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/180324-system-info-see-your-system-specs.html

As it stands you should follow this:

Code 39
Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)

Cause

There are several causes of Code 39 errors:
  • A required device driver is missing.
  • A required binary file is corrupted.
  • There is a problem with the file I/O process.
  • A driver that is referencing an entry point in another binary file is unable to load.
Recommended resolution Uninstall and reinstall the driver
Uninstall the driver from Device Manager, and then scan for new hardware to install the driver again.

  1. In the device's Properties dialog box, click the Driver tab, and then click Uninstall. Follow the instructions.
  2. Restart your computer.
  3. Open Device Manager, click Action, and then click Scan for hardware changes. Follow the instructions.
Note You may be prompted to provide the path of the driver. Windows may have the driver built-in, or may still have the driver files installed from the last time that you set up the device. However, sometimes, it will open the New Hardware Wizard which may ask for the driver. If you are asked for the driver and you do not have it, you can try to download the latest driver from the hardware vendor's website.

Yes I have the latest drivers. I actually have a different ssd than what I had when I built it. Took this ssd from a laptop that I gave a cousin. .....

Follow Koolkat's, Arc's, and Anak's guidance first.

A quick question, then a few requests for information

This SSD... did you re-install Windows when you put it in this machine?

Please follow this tutorial that will help determine if there are any Windows activation issues.
http://www.sevenforums.com/windows-...ne-activation-issue-posting-instructions.html

I'll amplify Anak's request.
Please add your SF Systems Specs by following this tutorial: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/180324-system-info-see-your-system-specs.html
  • In the System Manufacturer/Model Number field, manually type Desktop or Laptop adding it to the information already in the field.
  • Specify Custom Build as the manufacturer if it is not an OEM machine.
  • The tool does not fill in this information but it is very important if someone has to research drivers or hardware for your machine.
Log on to Sevenforums (SF) and let the tool fill in you System specs on your SF profile.

Full instructions are in the tutorial. It's a simple process and it makes that information readily available on your posts. You don't have to retype the information in any thread.

Click here to view your system specs on SevenForums.

Click on My System Specs in the lower left of any post by any member to see what is presented about their machine.

You might find the Corsair toolbox handy: The Corsair SSD Toolbox . Download link is in the 1st paragraph.

This caught my attention as I read the toolbox page:
Corsair toolbox said:
Individual drive information is shown in the center of the main window. When your SSD controller is in AHCI mode, you can update your SSD firmware from this page using the button circled in red below. The firmware update requires AHCI mode. AMD/nVidia chipset systems may require different storage drivers for proper operation. USB connected SSD drives must use SAT-capable cables/enclosures that support ATA/SAT-pass-through.

The drive might require optimization / trimming (in the toolbox)

Thanks

Good catch Steve.

Errors 80072ee7 and 0x8024402c are indicative of a WU server misconfiguration.

Whoa...lots of requests! I can do some of them now.

ARC, I will run memtest tonight and run driver verifier after. I filled out my system specs.

ANAK, I filled out my system specs. If you need more detailed info I can get you that. My mobo has the latest bios and drivers. Have been over to Intel's website and previously updated things using their automated checker. I have previously ran chkdsk and sfc scannow with nothing found but will do again. Windows update....If you're talking about the normal windows update, I don't have too many problems. Once in awhile an update won't install but it seems to eventually install. Right now I have no updates for my computer available. All that update info you posted is greek to me :-).

Slartybart, I cloned from one SSD to the other using Acronis. Both SSD's have the latest firmware and crashes happen on both of them. Was trying to avoid starting from scratch and reinstalling windows but if I have to.....

Here is a link to a "Speccy Report" if that helps.

http://speccy.piriform.com/results/DSxIesrsLOnJsS0ED4Pa6cg

Thanks for all the input and suggestions.

Update: I ran chkdsk then sfc scan on both hard drives and everything was ok.

Thanks dano,

My initial response is that you have to re-install since Windows is somewhat tied to the Mobo on the machine it is installed.
The other thing is that you can't just clone Windows - it's a violation of the MS EULA.

I think the cloning process you used is the cause of the BSODs and a re-install with a valid COA will cure all of these things.

Hmmm, looks like I forgot to give you the link to the tutorial in post# 11. This might identify an issue with a cloned system/boot drive.

Let's see what input other SF members might have on that subject before you take any action.

I didn't think there'd be a problem with cloning a drive is all one is doing is upgrading a hard drive on their system? I only use my copy on this one computer. Last time I did a fresh install I did have to do the automated dial in and get a new code.

Anyway, I didn't get to the memtest last night. I was going to install it on a usb stick and my computer doesn't recognize usb sticks for some reason. I can plug in my cell phone, music player and such and life it good but if I plug in a usb stick it's not recognized. Tried the window suggestion of reinstalling drivers and such multiple times but nothing is working. Been a long time since I tried installing a usb stick but I know in the past it worked fine.

If it ain't one thing it's another.....

I might have misunderstood then. Probably

It sounded to me as though the clone came from a different system - sometimes I misread things. Thanks for clarifying.

So, your HD was in that machine and you replaced the HD with an SSD? Is that more correct on my part?

I've already made one mistake... I'm going to sit back for a while and try not to misdirect anyone again.

Yep. Same system just moved everything to a different ssd to see if that had any effect on my crashes but, alas, it didn't.

I really really wish this was some sort of driver issue but that's the part I'm not smart enough to figure out. It crashes at random and not when I'm doing one particular thing.

I did purchase a new 240gb ssd and can start from scratch on that one if you guys don't figure out something with this one.

Thanks again for all the help along the way.

It might be faster to install on the fresh SSD.

You'll need the COA information and your Ethernet driver before you begin.

Read the following tutorials first, make notes, collect information, make backups, ask questions about the tutorial, etc.

http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/219487-clean-reinstall-factory-oem-windows-7-a.html

I suggest that you install with only the 240GB drive connected - no other devices except KB, mouse and monitor, no other drives internal or external.

Good luck with the path you choose, I'll be out for a day or two.

Hello again. Back with more info. Previously I mentioned that a USB stick wasn't recognized by my computer. Something eventually fired in my brain cell and said to remove Acronis and that fixed that problem. Did an upgrade install of Win 7 and then...

I ran memtest for 8 passes (took about 36 hours) with no failures.

Activated verifier.exe per instructions but don't really know what the heck it's doing. (Does it save files somewhere?)

Still crashing. Crashed 3 times yesterday. A difference in two of the crashes was that my screen became totally jumbled and the computer locked up. Didn't reboot automatically like it normally does.

Anyway, I've uploaded the latest crash results so maybe they give more hints. Thanks again.
