Hello guys, i am struggling with this laptop for a long time now and i came to you, i have no other solution left.

Samsung Series 7 NP700Z7C-S01UK bought at the beginning of October 2012, started to BSOD around May 2013. From May to late September the laptop was NEVER user, at the end of September i took it to Samsung Repair Center. They weren't able to reproduce the BSODS and said that the hardware is fine. Still does that.

I am currently running on Windows 7 Home Premium x64, the one that came preinstalled, reinstalled it middle of October. Windows updated, all the updates from the Samsung App (SW Update) are installed. Nothing left behind. I used memtest, furmark and prime95. No errors. Already checked my disk, no errors either. Tried already to upgrade my Nvidia graphic card to the last version (although SW Update doesnt tell me about that)... still the same problem, same with the directx. Reinstalled windows multiple time, from recovery, from a different source, same problems.

With Blue Screen Viewer these are my 'caused by driver' instances:
NETwsw00.sys x2
ntoskrnl.exe x8
ntfs.sys
fltmgr.sys
tunnel.sys
nvlddmkm.sys
dxgmm1.sys

The BSODS happen when i'm gaming, but to be honest with you, i am most of the time gaming so i dont now if that is the cause or is just rules of probability. it also happened when i was reinstalling windows from the recovery partition, when browsing over the internet or watching a movie. No precise pattern.

Never overclocked so i didn't f**k up anything for that matter.
Once again, the guys from the service told me that my hardware seems alright, but i dont know what to think

I renamed the zip and entered my username in it's name.

Hi horussjr.

Update the following:

Get rid of intel rapid storage. First uninstall it from Control Panel > Programs and Features. Then Uninstall the driver from device manager.

  1. Right click on "my computer" icon and click "manage" on the context menu.
  2. It will open the "computer management" window.
  3. Select "Device Manager" in the left pane, It will list all the existing devices up.
  4. Expand "IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers" by clicking on the triangle in front of it.
  5. Select one Intel device item under it, right click, uninstall.
  6. Continue the process for all Intel items under "IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers"
  7. Now restart the computer. At restart, windows will auto configure the appropriate native system driver.
For nvidia display driver, Install the NVIDIA DRIVERS 314.22WHQL only.

  • Uninstall All nvidia items in Control Panel > Programs and features
    • 3D Vision Control Driver
    • 3D Vision Driver
    • Graphics Driver
    • HD Audio Driver
    • PhysX
    • nvidia Update
(Are you using nvidia chipset drivers? If so, dont uninstall anything other than those are listed).
  • Now follow Drivers - Clean Left over Files after Uninstalling
  • Download 314.22 WHQL. While installing, Select Custom (Advanced) install. In the next page, follow this settings:

Also, Test your RAM modules for possible errors.
How to Test and Diagnose RAM Issues with Memtest86+
Run memtest for at least 8 passes, preferably overnight.

If it start showing errors/red lines, stop testing. A single error is enough to determine that something is going bad there.

Daemon Tools, Alcohol 120% and Power Archiver Pro uses SCSI Pass Through Direct (SPTD), which is a well known BSOD causer. Uninstall Daemon Tools at first. Then download SPTD standalone installer from Disk-Tools.com, and execute the downloaded file as guided below :

  • Double click to open it.
  • Click this button only:
  • 2012-12-13_224441.jpg
  • If it is grayed out, as in the picture, there is no more SPTD in your system, and you just close the window.
Let us know the results.

thank you for your reply and sorry for my late one

so first, updated the 2 recommended software
second, i uninstalled the rapid storage although under IDE ATA/ATAPI i had only one option and that wasnt any Intel
when i installed daemon tools i installed it without sptd because i know they are crashing things, is there any need to still uninstall it?

i will take care of the video driver and the memtest and i will come back with updates.

PS: there is a newer version of nvidia, is it problematic? should i install it or stay with the one that you recommended?

LE: installed NVIDIA DRIVERS 314.22WHQL
i will return with the results of the memtest

Answer to your first question: Yes. All hardware emaluator software causes boot time BSODs.

Answer to your second question: Yes. All versions after 314.22 are problematic.

If you dont have faith on what is suggested, you will not be able to solve your issue.

back with this stupid laptop... some bsods even after doing what you suggested. the older ones came when i wasn't connected to the internet, to ones today while playing World of Tanks(low graphic specs). Every time the bsods occur the image on the monitor starts to wobble like and old tv... i'm not sure how to explain it. parts of the image start quickly moving then it crashes, all in a second or 2. it also happens to bsod and not create a minidump, just block on blue image and not do anything and i need to force restart.... please sir, help me. i am on the verge of selling the laptop, it's so frustrating

LE: just to mention, my laptop seems to always have the cooler in higher revs, even if there are no heavy duties. some heat coming out for no reason. i'm not using it in bed, i used to long time ago. the cpu is aroung 15-20% with huge spikes for no reason, reaching even 100% for a split sec while not doing anything. the used ram is around 2.72 gb while not doing anything

Really very frustrating.

Stress test the Graphics Card using Furmark.
Video Card - Stress Test with Furmark
Let us see a screenshot of the furmark screen before you close the window.

Is the computer hot? Report us the heat of the computer after a couple of hours of your normal usage. Upload a screenshot of the summery tab of Speccy. Alternatively, you can publish a Speccy snapshot too: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/311593-speccy-publish-snapshot-your-system-specs.html .

Expecting that these two will help us to determine why graphics is crashing.

Another bsod but i will not upload it SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXPECTION caused by ntoskrln.exe
I have attached a screenshot from speccy right after the bsod but the temp got higher in seconds after i took it although the laptop has no tasks... motherboard reached 82-85 degrees. i stressed the graphics with furmark long time ago, it was fine but i will do it again and i will come with the results

LE: came back with the results. while running the test the CPU and GPU temp were both between 89-90 degrees and motherboard around 90-95

WOW!!

Dismantle the computer. Clean everything inside. Clean the air vents and fan grills so that it can blow the hot air out efficiently. Laptops are never heat effective, but it is almost a frying pan now.

Dont run formark now. It will harm the hardware with this high temps.

While re-seating, apply new thermal paste to the CPU.

As it is a laptop, it is all possible that you cannot do it yourself. Take the help of a technician for this purpose .... dismantle, dusting and re-applying thermal compound.

Let us see another screenshot of speccy after it is done.

Get it done, on an emergency basis.

EDIT: Also, afford a cooling pad for the laptop.

thank you for your help Arc, you really are an angel. I took the laptop in Samsung Service on the first of Oct and they told me it was dusty and they cleaned it but i highly doubt it honestly. I will buy a cooling pad for it as fast as pos, if you have any recommendations please let me know. Also, tricky question, is there any chance that the hardware is already ****ed up? irreversible? I will definitely dismantle and clean it asap as it is out of warranty already. Thank you for your help and patience Arc, all the best, i will come with the results asap.

LE: i was already doing the test when you replied, have a look at the older post please

I want to believe that the hardware is still intact, and after the dismantle-dusting-reapplying thermal paste will make everything smooth again.

i open the lptop, no dust inside, changed the thermal paste and i'm back with the results. After 10 min of working, starting from cold as f**k, the temperatures are the same as in the last screenshot, cooler spins up and down but constantly under medium charge. cpu 75 motherboard 75 gpu 65 hdd 34. all the values are changing up and down by 1-2 degrees. i dont know what to do next....

I doubt that the thermal paste is re-applied. If so, temps cannot go to that level.
