Multiple Chrome.exe processes

I have used Google Chrome for almost 2 years without a problem. Now, in the last 2 months, Chrome has gotten woefully slow loading all web pages and crashes frequently. I have tried to uninstall/reinstall multiple times without improving anything. I have tried creating a new user profile multiple times without any improvement. The only clue I have found is multiple "Chrome.exe" processes running per Task Manager > Processes (Windows 7). I tried deleting all that seemed inactive, but, again no help. Help would be appreciated.

Having multiple Chrome processes is normal.

Do you have a website where Chrome repeatedly crashes? If so, then try a clean boot, then test that website.

Thanks for your input, UsernameIssues. No, Chrome is just sloth-slow across the board and no single website seems to cause a crash. But I'm going to go through the Clean Boot procedure anyway. Maybe, I'll get lucky. At any rate yours is the first specific instructions (terrific, but the way) I have gotten. Will report any success.

Thanks for the input, ThrashZone, but I've just run multiple malware scans and now Chrome won't even load! I get "page unresponsive" with Task Manager. Multiple tries will finally get it open, but...

Hi,
What have you used to scan with ?
Use Clean boot,
http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/179159-troubleshoot-application-conflicts-performing-clean-startup.html
Click Start and type in the search box,
msconfig
Click on the suggestion on top or hit the Enter key,
Go to the Startup section and take some screen shots for a complete list,
Go to the Services section and on the bottom left Check the box to Hide All Microsoft services,
Repeat the screen shots,
See the links above my signature on how to take and upload screen shots here,
Cheers.

I have used ADWcleaner, JRT malware tool, rkill, malwarebytes, and superantispyware.

I have had Clean Boot suggested and intend to try that next. Will advise results.

Have you checked for any conflicts by typing "about:conflicts" into the Chrome browser?

Also, When you go to advanced settings and enable Crash reporting, it will send a report to Google then generate a log file (chrome://crashes/) that you can look at.

Thanks for the input, HelloItsMeAgain...

Didn't know about "about:conflicts"...it shows no conflicts.

After enabling Crash reporting, Chrome started with a blank white screen. Another restart resulted in a blank black screen. In both cases Task Manager showed "running" for Chrome. (Win 7).
