Multiple Different BSODs Custom PC

Would it be damaging to my computer in any way to upgrade to a 750w PSU?
If not then I'll most likely buy one of them.

As mohave says mate a 650 is pretty good for what you want and the only thing I would suggest is get a good brand it is worth the expense - me I really like the Corsair HX 650 and they do a HX750 too but in answer to your question no it will not harm the machine.

I have a brute Corsair HX 1050 in my Ivy only because it was on special offer but in reality I was going the HX 650 as a matter of course - plus it is semi modular so the cabling is neater.

The bottom line is just what are you planning to do with the machine?

He is Gaming on it Icit2lol I would look at an 850watt for that vidcard, From what I have been told it eats up power from a single rail PSU Dual rail and 750 would be ok but 850 would be better. IMO not gospel. I am not truly a big gamer but I am constantly fixing gaming rigs for customers and the no. 1 fallout is burned up memory, GPU or Chipset from a weak PSU.

Ok mate missed that and yes I am with you and yes I would go the Corsair HX 850 V2 gold and a better one I reckon is the Corsair AX 860 platinum but you are looking at a substantial price for the AX but I think it is the real deal. .

I would also like to start overclocking my CPU when all the BSODs officially stopped. But it does answer the question of why I only got graphics display BSODs when playing Skyrim, it demanded twice as much out of my GPU then any other game.
And to the person who told me to lower my base clock of my GPU: while at idle my GPU only runs at 184mhz and while playing Dark Souls 2 the max it got up to was approximately 680mhz (431mhz off of max clock without OC). And It was only pumping out 39 degrees while playing Dark Souls 2 for over 3 hours.
Would I also need a 1050w PSU if I were to SLI another GTX770? (Though I probably won't get another)

Edit: This 850w PSU is on for a good great, reviews seem pretty positive (though seems like customer service for Corsair is a slow) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139011 Recommend? It's GOLD certified instead of platinum, doesn't bother me though.

Hum tough one for me mate as I don't game at all the large PSU I bought only because it was too good to miss. Maybe it might be an idea to drop a thread in the Gaming section as they would be better of advising you on what to use.

Of course this does depend on the budget too as some of the upper end stuff is pretty pricey - well out here it is.

The PSU you linked to, the HX 850 is a good one. I used to have an AX 850 and it worked very well. In the past few years I have bought probably 8 PSUs, all Corsairs and have had no problem with them. Corsair support is pretty good too. Different Than most companies, if you have to RMA it, you will get a brand new one in return. Most companies will send you a refurbished one. The HX 850 will run well for you and the power supply will put out what it says it will and probably more, There are some good brands out there but Corsair and Seasonic are about the best. XFX, Antec are good too, but those are actually made by Seasonic as many of the Corsair's are. You won't go wrong with the one you chose. It is a version they quit making recently and now the 850 has been replaced by the 860i. It is just the same thing, pretty much but is a digital one that has software to see what is happening and control the fan speed, when it works. The software is real buggy. I have the AX 1200i now. I hate their software and would rather have the older models like the one you are looking at. As far as I'm concerned I would buy the one you linked to rather than the newer 860i. Its an excellent choice, will run anything you want and has good support. It is one of the better PSUs you can buy. I highly recommend it. I had the AX 850 which is the same PSU you linked to just fully modular. It ran my CPU and my 780 Classified both heavily overclocked and never even strained at it. My advice is buy that one, you won't be disappointed.

Thanks for all the help guys :) I just put in an order with newegg.ca for that very PSU and a new CPU air cooler. At least it'll fix my graphic display crashes, it might even fix other BSOD if it's due to power consumption. Just gonna have to wait and see.

Thanks Steve I was wondering what that i was for and personally think it is a bit of overkill the HX 850 V2 I reffed was bog standard as it were, and the AX 850 was around the same price. But I agree the Corsairs are hard to beat.

John, I have bought both the HX 850 and the AX 850 and have found little difference in them except the HX is semi modular and the AX is fully modular and I believe you get a few more cables with it. The advantage of the AX is, it's their top of the line model and is fully modular. The advantage of fully modular is if you have to RMA the PSU, you don't have to re-wire it. Just unplug all the cables and when you get the replacement plug them back in. For the difference in price between the HX and AX, it just depends on how much that is worth to you. The AX version has the capability to do some things the HX can't. Some of the high end motherboards need an 8 pin EPS cable and a 4 Pin EPS cable. The AX has that capability but the HX does not, as far as I'm aware, but it costs you 2 pcie cables. But you have the option of how you want to do it where the HX does not.

If I ever did get a bad Corsair power supply and had to RMA it; I would cry if it wasn't full modular. It would take me many hours to redo all the cabling to the way I like it.

Once you go full modular you won't go back to non full modular.

Thanks Steve and Jack I hadn't thought of that to be absolutely honest I was thinking more along the lines of cable replacement but there again I am bit slow on the uptake at times:o

Hum I have just watched a couple of videos on the RM series of Corsairs PSU's (fully modular) and they were really quiet and extremely efficient and best of of all not that pricey. The RM 650 for example $159 even out here!!

Haven't had any BSOD since the last time I posted one, just got my power supply and CPU heat sink today, already installed them. Successfully booted up, screen flickered once, other than that everything is working fine. I'll give it a week to BSOD before I mark this as solved. I do believe that BIOS update did help a lot though.
