Multiple errors with BSOD

Sorry, we have had a lot of activity with blue screen crashes the past few days. I have 52 (nope, it's now 54) e-mails in my e-mail box that I am trying to get to as quickly as possible; I have been doing this for four hours straight so far today... We work as volunteers on here, so our time is limited and we are stretched very thin at the moment.


Device Concerns:

Hardware devices are not working or are not detected in Windows may resolve the above...​

Analysis:

The latest crash indicated your display card drivers or possibly a problem with the card itself. You may also want to install your AMD drivers without the Catalyst Control Center/Vision Engine Control Center software. Download the version of ATI drivers that you want to install, and then do the following steps.

• Start the installation program to install your drivers and ATI software. When you get to the option to Express/Custom install, cancel the installation. Your drivers should now exist in C:\AMD\Support\xx-x_vista_win7_64_dd_ccc where the x's replace your version number of the driver software.
  
• Uninstall all AMD software related to your graphics card by uninstalling AMD Catalyst Install Manager in Start Menu -> Control Panel -> Uninstall a program
  
• If AMD Catalyst Install Manager is not listed, use the following method to uninstall the graphics drivers:
  1. Click Start Menu
  2. Right Click My Computer/Computer
  3. Click Manage
  4. Click Device Manager from the list on the left
  5. Expand Display adapters
  6. Do the following for each adapter (in case you have multiple display cards)
     • Right click the adapter
     • Click Uninstall (do not click OK in the dialog box that pops up after hitting Uninstall)
     • Put a tick in Delete driver software for this device (if this option is available, otherwise just hit OK) and hit OK
  Alternatively:
  1. Login as an adminstrative user
  2. Click Start Menu
  3. Click Control Panel
  4. Click Hardware and Sound
  5. Click Device Manager (the last link under Devices and Printers)
  6. Expand Display adapters
  7. Do the following for each adapter (in case you have multiple display cards)
     • Right click the adapter
     • Click Uninstall (do not click OK in the dialog box that pops up after hitting Uninstall)
     • Put a tick in Delete driver software for this device (if this option is available, otherwise just hit OK) and hit OK
• Restart your computer.
  
• Re-install your drivers from the C:\AMD\Support\xx-x_vista_win7_64_dd_ccc folder using a similar method to that in OPTION TWO of http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/98073-drivers-install-vista-drivers-windows-7-a.html

No problem, it wasn't the waiting that was getting me furious. It's my PC that keeps giving errors after errors. I had suspected my USB ports were at fault here, but never knew how to solve the problem. I'll do all of that, and I'll report back.

There are some USB steps you can try if you do think it is USB related:

• Start with http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/165554-usb-driver-general-fix-problems.html to resolve the USB issues. Also, USB ports can sometimes enter a safe power state to protect the system from power surges due to USB devices. To reset the USB ports to a nominal power state:
  
  1. Shut down and turn off the computer.
  2. Unplug the computer from the wall or surge protector (then remove the battery if it is a laptop).
  3. "Remove the computer from any port replicator or docking station, disconnect
     cables to printers or devices such as external monitors, USB memory sticks or SD cards, headset or external speakers, mouse or auxiliary keyboard, turn off WIFI and Bluetooth wireless devices." (Use Hard Reset to Resolve Hardware and Software Issues HP Pavilion dv5000 Notebook PC series - HP Customer Care (United States - English))
  4. Hold down the power button for 30 seconds. This closes the circuit and ensures all
     power from components is drained to clear the software connections between the BIOS
     and hardware and clear any corruption in the temporary memory.
  5. (If it is a laptop, plug the battery back into the laptop and then) Plug the computer back into the wall. Do not reconnect any unnecessary peripherals; monitor, keyboard,
     and mouse should suffice and be the only peripherals reconnected.
  6. Turn it on to reinitialize the software connections between the BIOS and hardware

Uh I think I may have made a mistake. I uninstalled the drivers of the graphics card and uninstalled it as well in the device manager. Now there is no "display adapter" section and the screen has gone wider. Im downloading the drivers from AMD. Installing them will return everything to normal? I hope...

I followed the tutorial of USB fixing, and there was supposed to be faded USB devices on the list, but it didn't show any on my screen. I removed every USB device except for my mouse and keyboard. After this I turned off PC, did the steps to reset the USB ports, but I havent noticed any change. Do I turn off the PC now, and turn it ON later and see if BSOD show up?

I think I have messed up something on the tutorial, it seems nothing has changed. Im so confused right now lol.

I have it turned off for now. Will turn it on later, but doubt anything will be fixed. 2 of my USB are still not working, but it could mean nothing, as what matters are the drivers.

Yeah, your USB issues may be a hardware issue. I have seen hardware issues as simple as that cause blue screens... It sometimes means a short exists on the motherboard. Are the bad USB ports on the front or back of the system?

I bought it like this, always had BSOD. Thanks a lot Cyberpower! There are 6 USB ports at the back and they all work. 3 are at the front and 2 of them DONT work. What do you suggest?

If you are comfortable inside the system, you should check the connections between the front USB ports and the motherboard. If you are not comfortable inside the system, try to find someone who is.

As you check the USB hardware, follow these steps for ESD safety:

1. Shut down and turn off your computer.
2. Unplug all power supplies to the computer (AC Power then battery for laptops, AC power for desktops)
3. Hold down the power button for 30 seconds to close the circuit and ensure all power drains from components.
4. Make sure you are grounded by using proper grounding techniques, i.e. work on an anti-static workbench, anti-static desk, or an anti-static pad. Hold something metallic while touching it to the anti-static surface, or use an anti-static wristband to attach to the anti-static material while working. If you do not have an anti-static workbench, desk, or pad, you can use your computer tower/case by finding a metal hold in it, such as a drive bay.

Once these steps have been followed, it is safe to remove and replace components within your computer.

I'll get someone to come over and have the hardware checked for me as I'm not comfortable around it. Glad that we could find out what the problem is.

Wish I could guarantee that is the only problem, but given the severity of that problem, I really think it should be taken care of to at least rule it out as the crash culprit.
