Multiple Monitors

Greetings all!
I have the following issue I need assistance in resolving.
I currently have my Syncmaster 2033 as my primary viewing screen.
I'm able to use a Sharp Aquos independantly to view Hi def, provided I have the syncmaster disconnected! That is I cannot have both connected, the syncmaster connect6ed via dvi connection and the Aquos connected by HDMI connection.
When I start my system the syncmaster displays the windows logo but then goes dark and the Aquos lights up and is the main view screen while the sysncmaster is dark.
So how can I use multiple monitors?
My specs are updated on the bottom left and I have downloaded the latest ATI catalyst drivers.

Regards,
Adrian

The monitor have a VGA connection? If so try it with that instead of the DVI connection. Problem is as I understand it is that both the DVI and HDMI connections can't be used at the same time. Don't remember where I saw it but has something to do with using two digital connections at the same time (and how the RAMDAC's handle it), but works fine with the VGA and HDMI.

Hello Stormy, yes, the syncmaster is connected via dvi connection.

Hey there,

I have a syncmaster 2433bw (DVI) connected to my samsung 40" (using HDMI to DVI dongle) in dual monitors. I have had no problem with getting both displays being displayed at the same time.

What is the max resolution supported on your LCD TV and 2033 respectively?

I am using a 3870 which has 2 DVI outputs running on Cat 9.12. Try:

1. disconnecting then reconnecting each monitor in turn whilst booted
2. check that both monitors are recognized in both windows and in CCC (they should be in "duplicate" mode). if your LCD TV displays desktop upon boot, "swap" displays in windows or CCC
3. make sure your syncmaster 2033 driver is installed. the LCD TV should show up as generic pnp monitor in device manager
4. it could also be a refresh rate/resolution issue. to check, in CCC>desktop properties, under HDTV, desktop area should be selected as 1920x1080 and refresh rate should be set at 60Hz. if max supported resolutions are not the same change the res to match the HIGHEST res possible on both (ex if your 2033 supports 1920x1080 and your LCD TV supports 1680x1050 try changing your 2033 res to 1680x1050)

Good Luck:D

PS im a NOOB so im not at all technical. more like, fiddle around until it works.

Hello Stormy, yes, the syncmaster is connected via dvi connection.

You completely missed what I said. Connect the monitor to the VGA port (either using a VGA cable or VGA-DVI adapter), and the TV connected to the HDMI port. It is a limitation of the onboard chip that it can't use both the DVI port and HDMI port at the same time.
