Multiple problems with laptop

Hi. I have a windows 7 ASUS laptop less than a year old.

Recently a couple of strange things have happened on my laptop. not huge problems but rather annoying. Firstly, every time I click on a link on the internet it opens it up in a new link and don't want that. Secondly, every now and again the screen goes blank only seconds after I have stopped using the mouse like it would if I had left it for 5 minutes or so which needs me to wiggle the mouse again.

If someone could help me I would really appreciate it.

I'm pretty sure you are infected, try a full scan with the free version of malwarebytes.

Malwarebytes : Malwarebytes Anti-Malware removes malware including viruses, spyware, worms and trojans, plus it protects your computer

If you are having trouble installing it, you may have to switch to safe mode with networking to get it installed and updated.

You can run a full scan in safe mode if you have to, it is recommended to run it from the desktop though.

Virus and spyware, malware is my guess. When you have spyware, malware or a virus, this is typical behavior of such an infection of a computer system.

It is a virus that causes www.ewavou.com to be brought up. The virus could also play a role in your other problems. Run malwarebytes as suggested.

You can get an update tool for malwarebytes by clicking the following link. With it, you do not need internet excess on the infected computer to updare malwarebytes or use it in cases when you have internet, but malwarebytes won't update for some reason.

Could possibly also be corruption from using the preinstalled OS which is larded with sponsored crapware and useless duplicate utiltiies which have better versions built into Win7. THis is why most tech enthusiasts choose to Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7.

At the minimum after doing the Malware scan I'd Clean Up Factory Bloatware

Thanks guys. I'm going to do a scan when I get back this afternoon. I'l then post the results. So if I'm infected, what does this mean happening to my PC? I know that may seem basic but I have never had a virus before.

Did you check the box at the left and hit the Remove button at the bottom? That should get rid of them.

Since you've infected yourself with adware, most likely by allowing it to sneak in during downloads by not paying close attention to what you were clicking, I would also run SUPERAntiSpyware.com - Downloads.

After cleaning up what it finds, reboot and go into your Browser Tools, under Add-Ons remove any other than Flash Player, PDF reader web helper, Windows Media Player or Quicktime plug-in, Java and Silverlight.

In Control Panel>Programs and Features uninstall any search services, toolbars, or anything else you don't recognize and when you open it from Start>All Programs know you don't use. Use only the stable search box built into your browser.

When you download anything from the web, during install read the fine print that nothing is being sneaked in, as this is how most spyware and adware gets loaded.
