Music files keep getting renamed

There are 4 music files I have in a folder full of music that something in Windows is causing the file names to change.

Example, the file name is called "05 50 Ways To Say Goodbye.mp3". If I rename it to "Train - 50 Ways To Say Goodbye.mp3" eventually it will revert back the other file name, and this has happened many times over the last year. There are 3 other songs in this same folder that this happens to, and apparently at the same time. It happens with no other songs, and I have close to 2000 songs in my song folders.

Any idea what could be causing this? My next step is to just delete the files and rip them from the CD again to start fresh if I can't figure this out.

I've never heard of this issue. Very peculiar.

Do you ever use a tag editor such as mp3tag?

I am wondering what the artist and title tags are for these songs?

When does this seem to happen? Can you make it happen?

Can you upload one of these songs into this thread?

I used WinAmp to tag the songs, but I used that for all of them so it's strange that it's just these 4 songs. Here is a screen shot of what it shows:

There is really nothing special about the tag info for this one vs. the rest of them I have so it's truly puzzling.

Not sure when it happens and I can't make it happen on command. One day right after playing one of these songs I noticed the file name changed back but then I tried to make that happen and it wouldn't do it a second time.

It's just 4 songs.

Do these 4 song titles have anything peculiar about them? Anything in common about how they are named?

Such as the use of a number in the song title, like "50 Ways To Say Goodbye"? If you change that to Fifty, would you still have the problem?

Or any other similarity in the song titles at all??

Have you deleted all tags and then retagged with artist and title only, possibly with another tag editor?

Have you used an mp3 checking type app to see if there are errors of any kind in these 4 songs?

Have you converted them to WAV and then converted back to mp3 to see if the problems persist after the reconversion?

No numbers in the other song titles but in the other 3 instances it's the same thing of them being renamed to the track number followed by the song title.

I tried renaming and then rebooting and that didn't cause the automatic rename to happen. I just played one of the songs after properly naming it and that did not change the file name either.

I didn't try another tag editor yet but I am experimenting. I pulled one of them into Adobe Audition and saved it out under a different file name, then manually tagged it. A couple others I simply renamed back to what they should be and then manually changed the tag info. I will have to wait and see the results whenever it decides to do this again.

Strange things have happened. Since my last post there were no changes, and suddenly yesterday I noticed that those same 4 file names were changed back. However, the one I loaded into my music editing program and saved out under a different file name did not change, so it seems that's what I have to do, but still, it's frustrating not to know why this is happening.

As of this morning I happened to look at my music folder and I see this:

These 18 files, which previously had never changed have now reverted back to their original file names from when I first ripped them off the CDs, and the meta data is also gone. I had left iTunes open all night so all I can guess is that iTunes is responsible. However, when I go to play any of these in iTunes it now gives me the message that it cannot locate the file, so I'm not positive what caused this.
