music library "arrange by.."

Hi,

When I go to my music library (the new feature in windows 7) there's an option on the top right to "arrange by". If i select arrange by album, all my music shows up as unspecified even though it has been tagged properly. Can somebody help me out?

I had the exact same problem. I finaly discovered what was wrong and how to solve it. The problem is that the MP3's are missing the index attribute.

You can set the attribute for your mp3's using the command prompt and entering the following...

attrib "D:\My Music Files\*.mp3" -i

Where My Music Files is the folder that holds your MP3's. I then added the folder to the Windows Search Index. Start menu, type INDEX

After that all my unspecified files would display arranged in stacks. See attached before & after

thx so much.. also i noticed another way to do it is select all the files.. properties.. advanced and allow them to be indexed

Your welcome! Im glad its working for you now. It never occured to me it could be done in the properties dialog even though I must have seen it numerous times lol
